  • Brisbane / Gold Coast servicing and Tuning

    Hi All,
I just moved up to the Gold Coast (I work in Brisbane).
Just wondering if anyone can point me to a good VAG specialist up here.
My Car is due for its 60k service soon and im also thinking on getting a stage 1 tune.

    Also,
Who here has a stock VRS TSi car and what tune do you have?
Whats the best one out there?
My future mods are prbably going to be just exhaust (I drove my Bro in law's Golf R and i want that sound)
CAI and thats about it for the mo....

    Adam from VAGarage.
Alternatively Jmac from Alba European but it's probably too far.

Hit up APR or Viezu (Greg Roles) or Cutom Code (h100vw - Gavin) for tune info.

I can only help with a stage 1 tune opinion. I have a superchips stage 1. took no time at all, was a great bang for buck, and no problems with it.

as far as I can tell, all the stage 1 ECU updates are around the same level of power. you hear good and bad about most of them. I guess it comes down to which ever you choose or is easier to obtain due to location.

            Thanks for the email gav!
But i thought it was a straight program on the TSi motors? didnt think it needed to be done in boot mode.

At the moment the bluefin looks good for me because its straight forward and only about 500 AUD from the UK delivered..
But would like to get some more opinions for you guys especially if you have a tune on a stock car.
My main issue with the stock tune is the lag which is really noticable in traffic when you change lanes to take off from bumper to bumper and give it a bootful.

JMac on here is the best. He runs Alba European.

By far one of the best servicing guys around and I'm pretty sure he's also a Superchip dealer too.

Any recommend anyone near the airport by chance?
I have to go to Emerald overnight this week and hoping that i can drop the car while im there.

Contacted Brisbane Prestige Skoda, Quoted $810 for a 60k! OUCH!

I don't know about Jmac, but neither Brisbane Prestige or Prestige + Performance are super close.

I'm guessing Prestige and Performance will be around $40 + tolls taxi ride to the airport. Brisbane Prestige would likely drop you to the airport if you asked.

When I got my car serviced by them last I was warned that the 60K service (although I have only done <30K) is high due to the required DSG service. I'm guessing your is DSG? They seeming to think that you need the skills of a surgeon to service the DSG... hence the high cost...

Oh I forgot to add that I'm on the northside and I'm not aware of anyone else over here that is experience in the Skoda's.

That sounds bout right. 60k is a major service + dsg service.
I just did my 45k service & was warned bout the 60k.

Regarding ECU Tuning, I got an apr stage 1. Was done via the obd comms port (above the bonnet open lever) - no need to remove ecu to flash.
The apr tune certainly ain't the cheapest one available, but u get stock tune plus 2 tunes (eg 95ron or 98ron, or 100+ ron modes), valet mode & security lockout mode.

That's very odd cause normally he's pretty good at responding. I think it's likely then that he's either on holidays or very busy/playing catch up after returning from holidays.

nope.. Was quoted $810 for the manual service which i thought was way too much!
I was guestimating about 550, but so far all the places i cave called have been over 700.
                          VAGarage was $720.
and prestige and performance was about the same.

Sounds like the BS "QLD" tax is kicking in again... The only other thing I can suggest is giving Nambour Skoda a call and getting a quote from them, then calling Brisbane Prestige and asking them to match it. Brisbane Prestige might sharpen the pencil to match another dealer. They will not do so to match a non-dealer tech though.
