Took mine back to Trivett Alexandria on Tuesday for its 30k service. Customer service was just as pleasing as the last time I was there, and the bill $572.

But I'm saving $100 per tyre by going to Jax to replace the rears, rather than getting them form the dealer...

Sounds like they should really be called the random department for all the things they choose or don't choose to do. Its not pleasant experience when you're trusting them too look after your car. My roof box came in 2 weeks after I picked up my Yeti from Richmond Skoda. Rather than just give me the box and send me on my way they got me to drop off the car so they could fit it. No problem with me because it saved me a days city parking fee but when I returned not only had they fitted it but they had washed the car and given the tyres a shine. Another time I'd noticed a noise from the engine bay. When I called they asked me to come straight in and had a tech go for a drive with me. Very happy with my dealings at Richmond.

I have no idea why anybody who loves their car would want the dealership to wash it.

When I bought my car they gave me a card that entitled me to a free wash every week for the warranty period (3 years). The dealership was on my way home so I thought this was a pretty sweet deal. In short, I used the service twice because the final result was lousy.

OTOH, if you are like my wife & would rather have your car look like an elephant pooped on it than spend an hour washing it then dealer washes are worthwhile.

Join the club mine wouldn't even spend 5 minutes driving through a car wash, 2 years and her car has only been washed once (which was me when I was driving it for a day)..

I have a deal that I keep the lawns mown, car clean and all the outside stuff dealt with and she keeps the house clean and clothes washed and ironed. There and plenty of jokes about chicks being dish washers but few jokes about blokes being car washes and lawn mowers.

              Happy Days.

Well, that's illegal. I'd suggest you take her & I'll keep the kids, dog & house.

I'm with you Brad. I had a few barely noticable swirl marks on the paint and forgot to ask the dealership NOT to wash the car once... Bang... Lots of swirl marks... Most people wouldn't notice them, but I do and that was one wash!

It's just not the same as taking the time to do it yourself. That said, if I had a light coloured car, I'd probably let them wash it.

                            nah I missed it already

as for dealers washing cars. an unnamed dealer serviced my fiat and kindly washed it. wife drives it, didn't notice for over a month the burn mark above the wheel arch where it had been machine polished.........

                              +1.
                              i have the same arrangement.

i'd rather wash the car myself than the dealership do it.

                                Red hot servicing!

Dealer servicing is always the subject of discussion and it's not limited to VAG group. A work colleague of mine took her pristine 40,000 KM old Corolla for a service last Saturday, this is what she got back.

Injector clean gone wrong, true story.

                                Cheers
