Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

yep, i find it funny, (and annoying) as it always happens just when I want to hear something on the radio...like a news report, or song artist name...and I sit there for what seems and eternity ...and then miss what I wanted to hear...

      hmm, unlike u guys - i don't have a boing/bell/ding when mine pairs.
i just confirmed it twice this morning.

as i mentioned before, mine is uninterrupted - literally. no mute/pause. radio/media/dvd.

maybe its the bluetooth version i have that makes it different.

I can confirm the bell/silence in my MY12 Superb (Columbus). I wonder what the difference is.

Maybe because dArK5HaD0w's is not factory-fitted it behaves differently??

Either that or VCDS coding, I notice he had to enable some options. Ultimately, I'd imagine the sound aspect is controlled by the head unit, not the BT hardware. Something must be muting audio while the phone is connecting.

Alternatively, maybe this has something to do with the BT profiles that are being activated when handshaking with the phone - my phone allows the head unit to play its media.

even though mine wasn't factory-fitted, its coded & works just like one.
includes using the factory-fitted mic (for voice control).

it even connects the media player automatically.
pairs via HFA, though i'd prefer rSAP anyday.

we've all got the same headunit. doubt the firmware will dictate differences.

i say its the actual bluetooth unit itself. there are different variations.
the 9wz unit was definately not stardard offering.
yours would wither be 9w2 or 9w7.

end of the day, it doesn't matter how u get there......its all good - everyone's bluetooth works.

Hear hear... it's just the 5 second or so of disappointment in an otherwise perfect package, can easily get over that

Curious though, there are other car makes where people have trouble connecting their phone to BT, has the Columbus/BT unit been known to have trouble with any particular mobile makes/models?

My Nokia E6 had a bit of issues, sometimes... But a firmware reset on the phone (I buggered up some of the configs ) fixed everything.

Bluetooth doesn't come with the SatNav. You need the BT module which is installed under the drivers seat. It hooks into the wiring loom (which is standard) and that interfaces with both the steering wheel controls and the SatNav buttons. I got all my gear from Czech Rep and installed it, including maps. The link above is a good source for the gear you want, but they are expensive. Ebay also sells the genuine ones, but you need to search. I got Columbus for $420 delivered, BT for $135...

Just fitted the kufatec fiscon basic plus..... Reckon it's great, but the A2DP Bluetooth streaming is very average. Anyone else suffering this?

Ooh, you have a sexy sexy HTC 8X?

Lumia 920 had some teething problems... I.E. Bluetooth audio controls wouldn't work, and names wouldn't be displayed on the Columbus nor controlled via Columbus or stalk (manual vRS doesn't have MFSW)
Everything seems fine, now. Just looking for a (probably Carcomm) cradle with antenna port for external antenna.
