  • My new MY12 Skoda Scout DSG 103TDI Premium

Very happy with the car, the DSG is a little different than driving a normal auto but getting used to the slight differences.

Glad I ended up getting the premium pack, well worth the 2k extra, sunroof is pretty small but I like the leather/alcantara interior and the electronic seat so it won't drive me crazy when my wife keeps changing my settings..

103TDI has enough power and much quieter in operation than the 1.6L diesel in our Hyundai i30cw.. Sitting at about 7.3L/100km at the moment but haven't been driving too conservatively yet.. Also much nicer than a front wheel drive car on dirt roads..

Plenty of boot space when I flip the seats forward to fit largish balsa rc planes in

A did have a problem with bluetooth streaming audio having a horrible high pitch noise in the background at first, but it only did it the first time I used it yesterday morning, been driving around a lot since then and it has been fine.. just hope it doesn't come back...

Only other problem is the maps, generally speed limits are all spot on except when I jump on the freeway it tells me to drive at 120km/h.. lol.. Considering I don't believe there are any 120km/h roads in Victoria, that is a pretty serious error...

There is also a mistake in both the Australia brochure and on the Skoda Australia website they claim there is "A grab handle with the Scout emblem is fitted to the dashboard and will be appreciated by your passenger when driving over uneven surfaces." It would be appreciated but it does not exist???

Well, the grab handle is almost just a skeuomorph, it's pretty unnecessary... Have it on mine, it's a 2010. Pushing 60k km and it's still great. Work Golf at same age/mileage is a sack of rattles and squeaks.

The grab handle was deleted on the very last of the cars built this year - I think from cars built around March 2012 onwards. I have a 2011 build MY12 and it still has the grab handle but to be honest its never used..

If you don't mind, could you tell us the version of your maps software?
2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.
          1990 Mk1 Cabrio. 1.9 IDI w/ 18PSI.

Yep sat nav has speed limit..

            Unit hardware version - h60
            Unit software version - 3984
            Map version - 7679

Apparently on vw forums the incorrect speed limit in 100 zones is a well known issue with this latest map version, they were talking about a new version to fix it back in March, guess it still isn't fixed yet?

              +1.
              its known as v5 maps.

the "120 km/h" limit is australia wide. its a known issue.
no - no fixes/updates yet to the maps. u'd b looking at march "next year" at best!!!

congrats with the car - u finally got it.
with the skoda aus website - its always behind/lagging in terms of brochures. thanks to vw aus, who run/maintain the site!!
its always important to check the back page to see when it was printed/published - that will give u an idea of up-to-date it is.

Well can't be happier with the fuel economy, return trip to work today (about 45mins each way) in the Renault Megaine 2.0L petrol (running 98ron) averaged 10.6 L/100km even after 25,000km (was worse at start), in the scout 103TDI I managed 6.4 L/100km today..

Now of course I will never pay off the money I lost selling a 1.5year old Renault (worst resale ever), but I have a much bigger car (my main aim) for growing family, basic 4x4 ability and FAR better economy...

Well, I actually liked the look of the current model megane, the previous one however

Problem with the bluetooth streaming is back, even with the phone not plugged into charger, when I accelerate I get a high pitched feedback sound through the stereo... Guess I may just have to stop using bluetooth streaming, not the type of problem I think the dealer can help with...
