In the Octavia Scout 2012 (with sunroof) what size are the festoon lights (internal ones when doors open etc)? 38mm or 42mm? I seem to see people mention both for even the normal octavia...

From memory, they're 38mm.
You could always take a bulb out and measure it!

The boot is T10, but I got some proper LED replacements from Superskoda. They're so bright, and useful! I wouldn't bother replacing the boot lights with LED's, just get the SS units.
Reading lights are LED, yes.
All three (centre and two reading) turn on when you open the door, in the front and rear.
I just got one of those 2x4 LED units from SuperCheap Auto. Works well!
