Anyone have any experience with them?

I was quoted $990 Fitted inc wiring. Before I ring them to confirm details, what sort of questions should I ask

    Type/brand of tow bar?
Will rear sensors work with tow bar on?
    Will rear bumper need cutting?
    Anthying else specific with wiring?

Hi Zach, i'm after a towbar too...
Think i read earlier on in the year that some members were able to find a quality Hayman Reese bar fitted for around the $990 mark. (Sydney).
I got a quote from Pedders (think they are a recommended installer, or something) & the best they can do is $1199...
I too am interested in a sub 1K bar, not fussed about the anti sway tech, which bumps up the price a bit i think. Is that a consideration on the Octy's?

The anti sway tech is all part of the trailer control unit, which also handles bulbs and plugs straight into the car's wiring harness. This is the only way to go.
If you tap the trailer lights into the car lights, it'll cause all sorts of problems and headaches. :/

I'm going to get my tow bar from here, when I have some spare cash.

One of the other members (I've forgotten who) got their bar installed by these guys.

I'm going for a Hayman Reece, purely because they have the detachable and interchangable tongues, unlike the Euro-style "Gooseneck" units.

For anyone interested. tow bar was Hayman Reece but wiring does not work with on board comp for rear sensors, etc. A bit of a let down.

The Hayman Reese bar costs $800 from Hayman Resse, see below:

          http://www.haymanreese.com.au/pubdet...&Model=Octavia

The difference ($200 odd bucks) would be install and wiring. Pass on the Hayman Reese bar working with the rear park assist, wothrwhile asking Hayman Reese on 1800 812 017.

I have the BestBar towbar on my car and it disconnects the rear park assist. It also displays a pix of the car towing trailer on the radio display (RCD 510), quite funky!

          Cheers
