I couldn't believe how difficult it is to manoeuvre DSG vehicles in tight spaces where there is a lot of small forward and backward movements. Every time I do that I swear at VW and their inability to fix the DSG jerk.

Can any manufacturer fix that issue with their DSG type gearboxes?Originally posted by K1W1 View PostI couldn't believe how difficult it is to manoeuvre DSG vehicles in tight spaces where there is a lot of small forward and backward movements. This I just don't understand, I've covered 120,000 KM in DSG cars (6 speed) and never experienced such an issue. Given that a DSG equipped car creeps forward or backward when you ease your foot off the brake it's never been an issue.Originally posted by K1W1 View PostI couldn't believe how difficult it is to manoeuvre DSG vehicles in tight spaces where there is a lot of small forward and backward movements. The Octy Scout 103TDI I test drove did exactly what K1W1 described, which put me off DSG's.Originally posted by VW Convert View PostThis I just don't understand, I've covered 120,000 KM in DSG cars (6 speed) and never experienced such an issue. So from what you are saying, the car lurches forward or backward when you ease your foot off the brake with no throttle input?Originally posted by Mysticality View PostThe Octy Scout 103TDI I test drove did exactly what K1W1 described, which put me off DSG's.06 Jetta 2.0TFSI Killed by a Lexus!

admittedly, i've only done approx 38,000 kms, but like u George, i have no issues (dsg jerk) performing small forward & backwards movements in tight spaces.

IMO if thats happening there is a problem. mine slowly creeps forward when i take my foot off the brake. its like i let the clutch out very slowly in an acual manualOriginally posted by VW Convert View PostSo from what you are saying, the car lurches forward or backward when you ease your foot off the brake with no throttle input?

The last and by far the worst one I drove was an Audi 1 (7 speed?). Just terrible it was like there was a 1 second delay before anything happened and then it was lurch big time. Very disconcerting when you are trying to maneuver around a large truck. Come to think of it I have driven a couple of 6 speed DSG Skodas and Audis and I don't think the lurch was as pronounced in them.
