Also do u guys insure to an agreed amount at what u paid for the car exactly or for what it would cost to replace it with a new car assuming a new model has come out and is not on sale...?
Mine is agreed value with a new for old replacement (GIO), windscreen & hire car. I refuse to get market value policies as I've seen too many people burnt.

I pay around $1200 for $13k cover. The older (and more depreciation) the car gets, the more expensive it is to insure. Was $750 when I first got it in 2008.

With most car insurance policies you shouldn't need agreed during the new for old period because well, they replace the car.
(Or in the case of RACQ, if they cant find the car locally give you the exact amount you bought the car for).=

So when they say they will replace the car with a new one of the same make and model, in the case of the Octavia I jut bought its about to be replaced by the new model. Would they say the new model counts as the same model or too bad and just pay me out the cash agrees amount? I guess it depends on each companies fine print right? The PDS I read seem quite vague in this area.

Sorry for the noob questions, first new car :/
