                • So does a base Golf to a GTI version.

Or a base BMW 1-Series to the 135i or the M135i... it's normal.... eh

                  • Got a press release just now:

Mladá Boleslav, 4 July, 2013 – The new ŠKODA Octavia is now also rolling of the production lines in the Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The Octavia, which is being produced with local partner companies, is the most requested ŠKODA model in both countries. The third generation of the ŠKODA best-seller is particularly impressive in terms of space, functionality and safety as well as being excellent value for money.

Where will the Australian version of the Octavia be sourced from? Kazakhstan would be awesome! I'd put a Kazakh sticker on the back! (Currently have a German flag on the rear but it should be Spanish!)

                    • Where they come from will depend on which factory is configured for RHD I guess.

                      • I can report that I have seen my first new Octavia in the flesh!

I was on the bus yesterday evening in Geneva, and a new Octavia wagon went past us in the opposite direction. I got a reasonable look at it, as traffic was slow at the time. It was definitely an Octavia, as that reworked front end is very distinctive. And the new angles at the rear end look pretty good too.

Hopefully, given that I'm in Europe, I'll start to see a few more.

                            • Newbie here. hi. When will the new Octavia be hitting Aussie streets? I'm in the market for a medium sized wagon and this Octavia seems to tick all the boxes.

Are there many significant improvements over the current model or more just body work changes?

                              • It's quite a different car. If you get a good runout deal on the current Octavias (and there seems plenty) and you are happy with it go for it. I don't think we will see the first stocks until very late this year, the Rapid which was supposed to come in Jan as been delayed here so unless they happen to have something in the first stocks that will suit you could be waiting until next year for it to arrive.

You could try talking to the nearest dealer, but they don't seem to like talking about new models, just what is sitting on the floor. Yrs ago it was like extracting teeth to find out when the Facelift Octavia was coming, in the end, the first arrive a few weeks after I bought the outgoing model.

If you had time to wait, I would wait as the new one is different in a lot of ways, it's the biggest overhaul in nearly a decade for the Octavia. Who knows whether that means the prices will go up though with our falling AUD.
