But in saying that, there's a greater percentage (more than the above 5% I mean) of drivers who want manuals instead of DSGs, so I would think that whilst you've got a limited market for resale, there is still a decent % of manual preferences so I'm not too concerned about resale.

Given some question marks (myths?) of the DSG reliability outside of warranty, I actually think you may have a better chance of selling a manual past the warranty period.
Hey don, so you decided on the Blue one after all?? nice choice. better than that base spec white one you were offered...

I eventually decided that it will take a long, long time to make up the fuel savings even with diesel so I'll just drive it until it drops by the look of it. No major problems so far at 75k km apart from having to replace the intake manifold which appears to be a common problem due to the variable intake valve leaking.

Still can't go past that turbo rush though....
I guess yours is a TSI rather than TDI. I was told by an auction house before I purchase the superb is that, if we want to buy these minor brands, make sure we get popular options such as auto and diesel. TSI doesn't hold the value as well not only it's less fuel efficient, also you need 98RON for it. So it's not as popular in used car market.

Just out of interest, how "ridiculous" was your trade in? What is in percentage terms of the original purchase price? All used car market is bad anyway, so don't expect 50-60%. 40-50% is more realistic. My Honda Euro, which suppose to have to resale, still only managed about 50% after 3 years, private sell, with 2 years factory warranty left, and only done 50k!
