  • Replacing low beam bulb

Hi I am about to replace my front low beam bulbs on my Scout. Just wondering about the following.
    1. As far as I can find out is that they are H7 bulbs?
    2. Can I replace the standard bulbs with Phillips xtreme 55w or something similar without having problems?
    3. Any suggestions for a good reasonably cheap bulb. I got quoted $90 for a pair of xtremes

    thanks!

Yes, they're fine. I'd also buy them from PowerBulbs UK.

Thanks for all the useful info! Had to get the job done right away so I couldn't wait for Powerbulbs unfortunately. Will buy some backup bulbs from them though. Ended up buying them from Autobarn for $69.99 (pair) which was about $20 more than Powerbulbs but $20 less than the Philips agent's price.

The procedure for replacing them was in the manual but also online at

Also got 2 free small blue bulbs, have to check where they can go.

u can put them in ur parkers - presuming the free ones u got r w5w bulbs.
the ones on the vrs r already blue, but they aren't wired up - so its useless.
on the scout however, u should b able to use it.

Yeah look like w5w. Will put them in parkers, thanks. Why aren't vrs bulbs wire up?

because the drls on the vrs r also used for side/parker lights (at a much reduced power from the usual full drl brightness).
the headlight cluster is a std xenon one, used across the octavia range. hence why the bulb physically in place.
however the headlight wiring loom on the vrs does not cater for the side/parker lights. hence its not wired to work.

I'm soon to do the same with my 90tsi. Got a set of Phillips 'blue vision ultra' H7s and the blue W5Ws. We just had our second baby so whenever I get a free chance (yeah right haha), I'll try and document/take photos of the process.

Must be that time of year. Couldn't find any phillips locally and am going country driving tonight, so I replaced mine with narva 90 blues. I'll give snaps to Skoda for the ease of which I replaced the bulbs. It was a 10 minute job for both lights. I've had some horror replacements with other cars in the past. My Fiesta required high levels of surgical and jenga skills to remove the headlight assembly and blew 4 lights in 3 years, just to give me some practice.

So before I place my order, just want to double check, h7 for low beam and h1 for the high beams in the current my12 scout premium?
