Tyres 225/40/18 for RS what did you replace them with?
Son in law's RS done less than 30k km and needs new tyres, and I just wonder, what anybody else in here replaced the original tyres with? I'm after long lasting, quiet tyre with still good handling. Price is not much of the issue, and I'd like to keep money in AU rather then send it to OS.
I put on Pirelli P Zeros. Their top of the range tyre. TTF Moorabbin did them for about $310 a corner which was an excellent price. They seem to be wearing well, nice and quiet and grip is good. Dunlops that cam on it I was not a fan of. Average grip, noisy and wore fast.

Just replaced my original Conti Sport Contact 2 with Bridgestone RE002..was looking to get the Micheln Pilot Sport 3 but got a better deal on the Bridgstones.
So far so good, the RE002s are probably ever so slightly down on grip compared to the Contis, but they're the same 'quietness' to my ear, and can't comment on wear yet obviously.
I have the OEM Michelin Pilot Exaltos 2 still at 45k and love them, pity they aren't made anymore. They grip, are quiet and wear very evenly, still plenty of life at 45k and my mates RS still has them at 60k.
The best option to replace with is the PS3s from all accounts, but no idea what they cost now, they are low $400 originally. My workmate has Pirelli P zeros and they have worn badly and need replacing much quicker than the stock Bridgestones that came OEM on her 17" Mazda 6. It's not her car setup either, the OEMs lasted fine as they did on my 6, so not real impressed with those. She went in to get what I recommended at the time and the guy there convinced her to use those instead. Enough to say she won't listen to him again.

What sort of P Zero's? There are 3 types - P Zero Rosso, Nero & just plain old P Zeros. The Rosso and Nero are quite a bit cheaper and by all accounts complete rubbish. But the P Zeros are very good. Considering they come standard on Porsches, Lamborghini's and Ferrari's I reckon that says enough.

Mine came with Conti Sport Contact 2s, which lasted for 46,000kms. I looked around at a range of other tyres, but in the end went for Conti Sport Contact 3s. My main reason was the wear was fantastic, and I figure if I can get the same distance again then I won't need to buy another set before selling the car. They cost me $315 each.
I know that as harder tyre the grip isn't brilliant (it's probably too easy to get the traction control light going), realistically speaking most of my driving doesn't exactly push the car to its limits.
At 20,000 kms the origional Dunlops were noisey and well worn. One suffered an unrepairable puncture and the only suitable tyres in stock at the local dealer were Falken ZE912 s. I would rate these cheap tyres better than the origional crappy Dunlops, quieter and longer lasting and at only $170 each a bargain. I have always been a brand snob before and only bought Pirellis or Toyos, no more.

I've bought a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Assym 2's . They're a new release from Goodyear and have been getting rav reviews - google them to check the reviews.....
I got them fitted & balanced for $1500.
Have been great so far, heaps better traction and a lot smoother ride then the Dunlops I had OEM. The wear rating is supposed to better too, and considering i managed to squeeze 60K out of the dunlops ( some good suspension geometry set up ) , I hope to get similar numbers if not better.
My OEM Dunlops were stuffed at 40,000 km and were replaced with Goodyear F1 and the car is now at around 85,000 km and they look to be between 1/3 and 1/2 worn. Excellent grip (wet and dry), quieter and appear to be lasting significantly better. I'd buy the same again.
