  • New Octavia RS Due?? What will it look like? Should I wait for it??

    Hey all,

I am keen to purchase an RS wagon, but I have just heard that Skoda have ceased production of the current model in the lead up to the new series being produced.
So...has anyone got pics of what the new range (particularly the wagon) will look like?
Any spec details re engines etc??
    What about release dates?

    Thanks

It'll look like the Rapid in some ways, but the RS is usually the last to be updated, I would have thought the RS has another year of manufacture yet.

production of the fl octavia rs has not stopped. orders r still being taken.
the factory in CZ will b closed for a month in july, for holidays. happens every year.
during this time, ALL production is halted.

there is still a long way off before the "new design language" rs comes along.

i heard skoda is going to b reducing the number of engine variants available across the entire range.

expect the new octavia to b larger than it is now. it will follow the mission-D concept.
the recently released rapid follows the mission-L concept.

They're winding down Octavia production at the moment (the Scout is gone and a number of engines in Europe aren't being made until the new gen) and according to Skoda Aus it'll be in run-out soon (so maybe it'll be priced like it always should have been?). As for what to expect, I've heard it comes out in June next year and will have styling based on the Rapid/their new corporate look - so a clean, sporty and unfussy look (which is what they had on the pre-FL Octavia IMO).

Engine wise, look at the [rather sexy] new SEAT Leon that's just been revealed. You can get the 1.2TSI in 63kW/77kW, the 1.4TSI in 90kW/103kW (the one that has cylinder deactivation and has just debuted in the Polo Blue GT), the 1.8TSI in 132kW, the 1.6TDI in 66kW/77kW and the 2.0TDI in 110kW/134kW forms. Finally they've upped the power of the 2.0TDI and I hope they have stop/start too. On another note, I've seen pics of the Rapid with a proper USB input so hopefully they've finally included it. It's also interesting to see that you can get fully-LED headlamps on the new Leon, something that's pretty much guaranteed for the MkVII Golf as it's the more expensive choice. Maybe we'll see it on the new Octavia?
