Have not read, just skimmed the star rating.
The Mazda SP23 and Skoda TSI got a 4 star rating from the reviews (highest).- Ben

Got it.
Good right up and the Octy did well. Best engine in class (1.8TFSI)
They also recommended the sports suspension pack at $1840
Most other revies i have read have suggested the RS sprorts suspension is too harsh for day to day and better to stick with std.
Do you think the RS has different suspension to the std with Sports suspension? would seem odd. Only diff i can see is that std =16", sports susp is 17" and RS is 18's.

im going from a 2003 jeep cherokee to an RS and i thought the RS had very solid suspension, but i wouldnt have said its Rough or nasty. I feel that its quite compatible with aussie roads for a performance wagon.
I tested it on some of Canberra's really bad roads as there are plenty of them developing now. And was really suprised there wasnt any big thumps from potholes or rough roads like i have noted in other performance wagons.
Only really notable noise was from the tyre tread. But thats common with the Michelin Sport tyres. Im going to invest in 4kgs of extra weight and have the underbody protection added to reduce some noise. Other than that i couldnt really fault the RS. Admitidly the Elegance was quieter! but a bit boring to me.

Is that the (Australian) Motor magazine ? I had a look at the March 2008 issue today at my local newsagent and couldn't find any Octavia tests in it (or maybe I'm getting blind as well as old)
Maybe if it isn't too much trouble scan and post would let me see it (thanks) ?2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Ahhhh........I might have realized that if I looked at the date of the original post and thought for a moment. I'll just have to add senility to my list of failings2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

LOL!
The dealer here in Adelaide has copies of an extract from the Dec 07 Motor magazine's "Dirty Thirties" article featuring the Octavia 1.8TSi, Mazda SP23, Focus Zetec and the Lancer VRX.
The Nov 07 Motor magazine has the "Quick Fang" article on the yellow Octavia RS wagon.
I can scan both articles and email as required - drop me a PM with your email addy

I've got a vague recollection of reading the older article, so don't worry about scanning either of them for me, but thanks for the offer.

Gidday gentle beings, I've just came back from Europe where every second taxi was an Octavia, they are all diesels of course. Seem nice enough and my wife agreed. The cars felt vice free and these cars do lots of Ks so that should be for longevity.
We are looking at the wagon. Not sure which spec yet... but will go for a test drive and see.
Does anyone has a copy of this article that you can email my way? rym001@gmail.com
Thanks!
