But there are quite a few that aren't including mine. Briskoda has plenty of tales of various noises intruding, and I have been trawling the net as well as experimenting in an attempt to cure some of mine. I seem to have got the numbers down over time, so thought I would pass on the info for any fellow sufferers. Some were there from new, the others were very helpfully added by dealers in the course of other work. Thanks for that...
There are 2 different rattles from the LHS of the dash. One is well known and is cured by removing the cover on the left end of the dash then tightening all bolts and screws in sight. The second is higher up, might be the demister panel contacting whatever is underneath, tends to disappear as the car warms up. One or two people have reported padding between the panel and the LHS A pillar trim helps, though I'd be a little cautious as some of the later models deploy the curtain airbag from the A pillar. You can tell as the airbag symbol is only on this pillar, not the others. If you do put something in there, I'd make it very soft so it can't interfere with deployment in any way. I am still chasing this - it's the last on the list, so any other ideas welcome.
The spring in the dashboard sunglasses holder can rattle in sympathy with engine revs. A (VW) dealer pretty much fixed that with double sided tape applied near/around the spring. Skoda dealers not helpful at all on this one; yes, "they all do that".
After my handbrake blind was replaced, the console had a fidgety squeak/buzz over lots of bumps. I realigned the side panels slightly, butting them up more tightly to the console assembly. Seems to have worked.
Taligate rattle there from day one, dealers seemingly deaf and or incapable of fixing this one. Unable to convince them to adjust the striker, went on forever. In the end, I tried white lithium grease sprayed on the hinges and silicone lube on the weatherstrip. Silent. Don't know which did it, suspect the silicone.
Headlining around the overhead lighting creaking. Fiddle with the alignment of the plastic components a little, or in some cases may need to drop one of these out as it can be a wire tapping on the plastic. Realign the offending wire if so.
I was also getting a resonance at low revs (1.9 TDI), Skoda dealers again knew nothing. VW dealer picked it right away as the air box, apparently extremely common. Insulated the air box and instant cure. Anyone with a 1.9 suffering this ask your local VW dealer if they know this trick.
And oh yeah, stupid City Link eTag was buzzing away, had me for a while thinking I would never find it. Loose in the mount - repositioned it.
Part of my route to work has stretches seemingly built specifically to provoke rattles in cars, so I've had time to seek these suckers out.
Can't think of any others at the moment, but feel free to add for the benefit of all.
