Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MFD control not working through the stalk, Manual vRS

hi all, having a weird problem and of course it happened on a weekend so no service centres open.

I can't switch between the different sections on my MFD using the control stalk (Manual vRS doesn't have steering wheel buttons). All the buttons work, ie. the rocker button and the ok/reset button does its thing when resetting the instant fuel economy for example but the long press to switch between the stereo, setup page or nav isn't registering. I have tried resetting everything by disconnecting the power for a while but to no avail (and now getting an esp error).

All fuses look fine and it was behaving perfectly yesterday. Any suggestions

The long press only works when the car is stationery. I assume that you are trying while the car is not moving.

the long press has always worked both stationary and on the move (although setup can't be selected on the move) as it enables you to switch between track selection, nav and normal mfd functions like ave speed, fuel consumption

but i have tried it both stationary and on the move.

      ta for the reply though

Don't have a vRS but my control stalk has always gone through quirky periods where it is either reluctant to switch between readings, between screens or even on occasion scrolling through items in a different order from normal. Only does it intermittently and has never failed completely, with a bit of luck it will sort itself.
