Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All.
I decided to do away with the black rims and go glitzy this summer and had the Atecs done in hyper silver while they were in for repair following a small mishap.
Ive also gone back to normal ride height and found the stock springs work great with the Bilstein dampers and Nuespeed roll bars i've had fitted a while now. It's great to have a refined ride back especially on our crappy british roads.

    Chris.

      Hi Mate.
I did have her lowered but got pissed off with the choppy ride on our bloody awful roads.
To be honest she is a lot more composed if say you hit a bump or pothole mid corner plus road noise has reduced a fair bit. I have found the dampers and roll bar settings much more important. Hey i'm 60 now anyway and getting too old to look cool while having my spine hammered.
Are the roads better down there!!??.

Not really. About the same, some are better, some worse. Your motorway system is better (slip roads, lane merges). Also your trucks aren't allowed in the fast lane & people are more polite & have better lane manners. Your speed limits & traffic enforcement are more sensible too.

Observations based on a very pleasant 5 weeks motoring in Southern Britain in September 2009.
