Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Octavia Scout reversing mirror positions

Aaaargh! I think I'm going mad.

I've followed the instructions to the letter, but still I cannot get the mirrors to automatically adjust when I have the mirror in R and in reverse gear. It doesn't happen. Can anyone who has it working telling me what's missing from the instructions?

Storing exterior mirror setting for reversing
    – Switch on the ignition.
    – Turn the exterior mirror control to position R ⇒ page 57.
    – Engage reverse gear.
    – Move the right exterior mirror into the desired position ⇒ page 57.
    – Take the vehicle out of gear. The set position of the exterior mirror is stored.

    Hi Stephen,

I think it's a typo/edit that was missed in the manual left hand drive/right hand drive conversion. In my Superb it works when the mirror control is in the "L" position NOT the "R" position, makes sense as the left mirror is the one that needs to move!

Is this feature only on the premium? If earlier, does anyone know when it was added?

That would make a lot more sense. I'll give it a go and see what happens. Thanks for that!

You are a star! That is indeed it - L not R makes it work.
