  • Arghhhh!!!!! WTF?

So peeved today after coming home from work to admire my bumblebee only for my eyes to be driven with rails to the scratches some inconsiderate imbecile has made with their door into mine!

Bloody blue scratch marks on both the door panel and painted plastic door trim! They must've jammed their door pretty damn hard with a decent amount of effort too. Either they were careless and didn't give a rats ass or they had an axe to grind with ma poor innocent skoda.

This is the thing I'm dreading, with mine.

Let us know how it goes, so that other people will have useful info.
Its a pity that Bumblebee had to be the guineapig.

I'm thinking the former. Sorry to hear Dave, not good mate.

Having black I have to be uber careful with mine as every little dent jumps out and punches you in the face .. needless to say I doubt many here are as anal as I when it comes to tracking down the nearest parallel-to-footpath park within half a kilometer instead of any standard side-by-side parking spaces

No-one gives a toss any more, plain and simple.

hope it doesn't turn out as bad as first thought.

Sorry to hear it Dave. You may be lucky though. Someone very clearly let a shopping trolley hit my wife's Yaris, hard and long, some time back. Multiple marks all down the 1/4 panel. Jaw hit the ground when I saw the extent of it, hard to believe the penis who did it didn't own up it was that extensive. Amazingly, good 'ol Scratch X got the lot off, left only a couple of very minor dents (like typical door dents).

No repair warranted, especially since it spends it's life in and out of car parks.

I hope you get a great outcome with no dramas.

                Sorry to hear Dave.

My wife just this weekend come back to our Octy to find a very large woman having a bit of a yack and resting her trolley on the back of our car. Which makes twice we've had *exactly* the same thing happen. Must be the pristine blue paint that attracts them... Obviously my wife let her have it and copped some abuse back (ahhhhh Sydney).

Thanks for your support guys. Definately upset about it. I'm sure we all know that it takes a lot of care and pride in keeping our pride and joy clean and dent and scratch free but unfortunately with peoples attitudes these days, it makes it very hard to keep it perfect. Had a good look at it today with a bit of denial but there's definately a visible vertical denton the door panel. I was almost going to pull into a panel shop for a quote to see how much the damage would be but thought it was going to be too depressing so will leave it for another day *sigh* I guess it didn't help the fact that I had only just got my bumblebee to look the way it looked in my mental canvas a while back.

Not good to hear. This is why I have an unhealthy paranoia of car parks.

Try Paintless Dent Removal before a panel beater, if they can remove the dent it will be a whole cheaper and you won't be without your car for as long. My old liberty had a dent in it from someone doing similar as yours including a mark in the paint, PDR removed the dent and the mark.

yeah man, having seen it up close last night, it's a bit of a shocker - the only thing i could think of was that they slammed their door open at full force, and with that dent in the rub strip it would have had to be a full grown man using force, too.

                      hope it gets sorted.

unfortunately, as many have already said, no one gives a fck anymore... the attitude seems to be "settle down, buddy - it's only a dent. i dont get upset when i get dints and scratches, so i dont see why you are???"

A while ago I played a round of golf with a mate at Leura Golf Club in the Blue Mountains. We came back to my wagon, opened the tailgate, put the clubs in the back, and were changing our shoes when a woman approached hurriedly, and opened up the 4WD next to me. I watched apprehensively as she helped her kid in the LH rear door of her car. I was really pleased, even grateful, to see that the woman had the palm of her hand folded over the edge of her rear door, and the rear of her hand resting against my rear door. I smiled, and said, "Thanks for that", and wandered off. She smiled back, and my mate and I went off to the club house for a cold one thinking that it was good to see someone being so considerate towards someone else's property.

When I came back I realised that the smiling deceitful cow was covering a dent that must have been put there when the daughter had thrown the door open into mine when she was getting out of the METALLIC GOLD 2004 LUXURY MODEL V8 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER WITH YELLOW NSW PLATES AND A 150mm X 100mm FINNISH FLAG (Suomen lippu) AT THE LOWER RH CORNER OF ITS REAR JUST ABOVE THE BUMPER. Kids are kids, and the minor damage isn't a major catastrophe. What pisses me off is that she knew it was there, intentionally covered it up, then buggered off before I discovered it. So much for my then newly restored faith in human nature. She may as well have carved "Sucker" in my forehead with a pen knife.

I know a very good panel shop, and took the car there for repair options. I was told that as the paint was not cracked so a paintless repair was possible with about a 95% chance that the repair wouldn't be noticeable. Thing was that the shop doesn't do it. They get a guy well known to them to come to the shop as required. The best advice I can give to anyone considering paintless repair is to get it done via a panel shop. There are a lot of guys out there working in the business after buying a franchise, or creating an ABN and loading up a van with some tools. There are also some very good operators. All I'm saying is that unless you know the guy, or get a personal recommendation from a trusted source that it's going to be a bit of a lottery, and like with any tradesmen levels of expertise, attention to detail, and general professionalism may vary greatly. Bottom line of getting it done via a shop is that if it gets screwed up by the man with the van the shop is the one that contracted him for the job and not you, so they are responsible to make good any stuff ups.

Some thoughtless person used my front quarter panel as a resting place - not realising that what ever was covering their ass was scratching the paint work. Idiots. But thankfully not deep enough that it wont buff out with a little machine effort.

My faith in people still isn't restored, we went to see some Aust day fireworks on the harbour in Newcastle. My wife & 2.5 year old son were walking back to the car in front of me ( I was on the phone talking to a mate and falling behind ) got to the car and about 3 people were leaning up against the RS, and the wife asked them to removed themselves off the front of the car. One person moved but the other 2 failed to, that was until I showed up from behind her & spoke up. When a 100+kg ex-rugby player telling you in a rather gruff voice "Did you not hear my wife" and seeing the rather pissed off look in my face they soon apologised and removed themselves from the area rather quickly. I must look mean at night time...... ha ha ha. Thankfully there was no damage.

I can kind of feel your pain Dave, was washing the car today and notice 2 huge F.O. stone chips on the front 1/4 panel and A pillar

I know when it happened too, some POS Camry or Magna on the freeway during the week flicked something up at my car, it was one of those stone chips that you FEEL when it happened. Couldn't see any damage immediately after but knew there would be something there.
