Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    2008 1.9 TDi Hatch speaker upgrades.

    Hi guys,

    I've been toying with the idea of upgrading the speakers in my 2008 Octavia 1.9 TDi Hatch for some time, but haven't investigated it much further than that.

    I'm currently in the States for work and have run into the possibility of acquiring some speakers while I'm here, the trouble is, I don't have access to my car, or any Skodas for that fact while I'm in the U.S. and I need to know what the size of the factory door speakers are.

    I've tried to find the answers on line, but I'm not having much luck. Would anyone have any answers, or information they can point me to?

    It would be much appreciated!

      6" and 6.5" fit. factory holes in the doors come with screw holes already for std off the shelf car speakers.

      I wouldnt bother getting them from america particularly..... plenty of places to buy speakers here

        The last time I bought speakers (a veeeeeery long time ago), they were on special in Sears & were a quarter of the price that they were in Australia. I have no idea what the forex rate was at the time & how much closer the prices between the two countries have got.
