New Octavia RS release?

Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone knows about the the much anticipated Octavia RS release? I've been trolling the net and haven't been able to find much. What I have found is that it should be revealed late 2012 for a March release in 2013. Does anyone have any further developments?

they haven't even released details of the "regular" octavia yet.
normally the RS version comes out a yr or so later after the mainstream models r out.

not to mention that audi will b the first to use VwAG's new MQB platform. next will b vw. that will b followed shortly by skoda & seat.
by the time all that happens, i'd b looking at early 2014.

I've heard a September reveal at the Frankfurt/Paris motorshow with an on-sale date of early 2013. I've also heard the new RS will basically be a Golf R. To be honest the new Octavia can't come soon enough!

This might be it. Found in a German Auto mag. Renderings but German mags are usually close.

Yeah I think someone has gone waaaay off track with those pics. All the new design Skodas have more Audi-like headlights and look very similar to the new Jetta but with the Skoda nuances, (Skoda grill and bonnet bulge).

That car looks far too wide and the back looks like someone stole the image from a Merc. The RS will most likely be another year off, but the new Octavia should show the general direction late this year.

Well I see lots of old-gen Volvo S60 in my Octavia (my neighbour has an S60R and our cars are often parked on the street together) so it doesn't surprise me, lol.

Yes, know i remember reading somewhere that in the master plan it was

AUDI vs BMW , Vw vs Mercedes , Seat vs ALFA , Skoda vs Volvo .

I actually like that rendering , looks solid and up market , maybe too upmarket for skoda .

The key word in the first quote is renderings. They are Photoshop interpretations of what some graphic artist thinks they will look like based on rumours, guesswork and maybe a spy photo or three. There will be elements that are fairly close but the the detail of the finished product will be vastly different.

There must definitely be designs for both the Superb and Octy around, I recall Matthew W either late last year or early this pretty much describing them as an Audi design with Skodas unique bits still there. Pretty much sums up the L-Concept type pics.

I would expect the Octy will look a lot like the current Jetta with the SKoda grills and its rear lights. The headlights will probably be much the same as the Jetta.
