  • Octavia Scout - Radio Question

    HI Guys,

My parents have just bought an Octavia Cout a couple of weeks ago and have a question about the sound system. Everytime they turn the car on the sound system starts wether they want it or not.
Is there a setting to adjust the system so it deactivates the auto start of the sound system with the ingnition.

    Any help would be great

The same happens with my Octavia, but only when the radio is left on when the car is switched off, so maybe have the radio off before the car is switched off? Obvious I realise!

Don't most cars restart their audio as it was left when the ignition was turned off? The only difference I see with my Scout is that the volume is reset if I've had it loud when I turned the car off.

As with PP's comment, perhaps turn the audio off before turnign the car off?

Not meaning to treat your parents like idiots but i'll ask the mandatory 1st level tech support questions:

Do they turn the radio off before turning the car off?

You realise you can adjust the start up volume? I think it's a brilliant feature - nothing worse than being in head-banging mode on the drive home from work & getting in the next morning & having your head blown off.

I did not realise that - nor do I care so much that I'd do anything, but nice to know anyway

Same screen as the "get louder as you go faster" adjustment & the telephone volume adjustment IIRC.

Over the Holiday I worked out the radio, or a way of fixing the sound on it.
You can turn it off and it will stay off until the GPS is switched on. At that point it will not only turn the GPS on but also switches on what ever type of media has been in operation everytime. You can mute it and it works until the car is switched off for about 2 hours and then it seems to reset itself and will turn on again.
I fixed it by turning the aux input on and switching it to that, now no more music when the GPS is switched on unless it is wanted.
