Who's DSG in a brand new Skoda (any model) misbehaved?
Happy to be corrected, but wouldn't all the DSGs be the same regardless of if its a Skoda/VW. I doubt they are using different internals or software? Guessing they just turn up at the factory on pallets and get bolted on at station x
could it be that your Skoda left the factory with the DSG properly checked for the right operations and any needed corrections were done properly at the factory?
Where the car is put together can have a big impact on its quality.
I have an 09 TDI RS and I've always had a feeling that my DSG has something wrong with it, especially when gearing down from 3rd -
2nd, it can be a real rough change which can jolt the car a bit. Travelling at slow speeds (around 40-50km) it feels like it can't just stay in a particular gear, instead it's jumping from 3-4, 4-5, 5-4, 4-3 which makes the ride very frustrating.
I've mentioned it to Skoda twice now, they run their tests and keep telling me everything is fine. I've still got 4 months left on warranty and wouldn't mind getting it properly looked at.
I'm spoken to my local VW dealer who advised they can look at it but can't action any warranty repairs
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Would anyone with a DSG TDI RS be willing to meet up so I could test mine against theirs? (South - East suburbs in Melbourne)
Have had just one incident at about 19,000 km while going through a right-hand turn on trailing throttle. The display indicated that 4th gear was selected but when I put my foot down I got a false neutral, much revving but not much else. I immediately backed off for a moment which restored the connection between the engine and the wheels. I'm assuming that I may have caught the DSG out in the millisecond where it was deciding whether to shift up or down, and maybe both clutches were disengaged for a moment. Otherwise perfect before this and ever since.
Skoda Superb Elegance Wagon 2.0 TDI DSG, Storm Blue Metallic, Glamour Ivory - Onyx floor, Panoramic roof, False floor, 3 spoke steering, Roller blinds, MDI, KESSY, Power tailgate, Tow bar - delivered and in service as of February 23rd. They didn't tell me there was no Bluetooth - grrrr.

Yes, make sure that you have the paper work that shows that you were complaining about DSG. The record in the Skoda system wouldn't be enough for me.
I have driven my brother-in-laws R32 here in Switzerland a few times recently (it must be over 6 years old now) and I notice the DSG box is definitely 'clunky' - lost the smoothness of the changes, not just from a start and slow speed but all the way through the gear changes. Which is a pity, because it was driving the R32 with the DSG that got me into looking at the Skoda ange.
Another reason why this car will definitely be replace when the lease finishes.

Well we are guessing here on a small number of Skoda owners with low Ks. But I doubt they do any work at Skoda on the DSG that aren't done in other VW/Audi factories (it makes no sense to have different procedures for the same gear).

Maybe the Skoda's final quality control is a bit different. For sure they're higher rated in the JD reliability than VW.
Yes, it is outdated but the VW at the same time wasn't better.
I know that they don't do any work on DSG before they fit them.
Octavia RS TDi DSG with just over 48k. No DSG issues other than the factory recall in Jan 2010.
Motor/gearbox is a little rattly/noisy around 1,200rpm on light throttle and got this checked at the 45k service - they said no probs (but at least its documented on the service records).
Also 2 weeks ago was in 3rd gear going up a slight hill on light throttle. All of a sudden the DSG slammed/thumped into 2nd (it didn't need too) and everyone in the car told me off for making it change down and commented how harsh the change was - but I didn't change the pressure on the throttle petal. First time this has happened and hasn't happened since.

Not sure that is an age thing. I had the Mk5 R32 DSG and it was alot more jerky and hesitant that the current DSG boxes in my Octy RS & GTI. They are both considerably smoother and "smarter" than the R32 box. I guess they have kept refining them mechanically and the controlling software.
But, as mentioned earlier, at over $10,000 to replace out of warranty, both of my cars will be sold at 2.5 years old. You'd imagine though, there'd have to be a case with ACCC for what the fair and reasonable life expectation is of the DSG box outside of warranty (assuming you had done standard kms)

In Canberra's coldest mornings, on startup the clutches seem engaged or grippy, but it only lasts a sec... other than that the gearshift in sport mode is no better than auto.. but as they dont sell a manual v6, DSG will do as its 200%better than a slushbox.
