I've lived and worked in several european countries. Cyclists are respected much more in Europe than they are on Australian roads for one very simple reason, European cyclists not only give lip service to the fact that the road rules apply equally to them as they do to motorists, they observe the road rules, and everyone gets along just fine.

So given that the vast majority of the TDF peleton are european, that makes your original post rather silly (OK, you may have been trying to be sarcastic but without smilies, it came across as stupidly confrontational).

And my post about professionals should have been more specifically about european based pros as I have seen local professionals take part in the notorious "Hell Ride" that killled a 70 year old man a few years ago down here.

You're right, 99% of the cyclists on our roads give the rest a bad name.

One major flaw with your views... please explain how cyclists don't obey road rules?? Are they illegally riding on the road? no. This is something you have to blame the government or whoever run road rules. Cyclists have the SAME rights on the road as you.

Drivers like YOU are terrorising our society and roads, NOT cyclists.

Yes, i sometimes find cyclists annoying when they are on a busy road, but they have the same rights as us, just because we are in a car doesn't mean we can knock them over.

I'm pretty sure those cyclists you believe don't obey the rules are very minimal, most cyclists i've seen obey all the rules, in my opinion, it is just in your imagination there are alot of cyclists breaking the laws, and being all "macho", I can guarantee you cyclists obey the rules much more than car drivers, especially those who find it funny when cyclists get injured, i highly doubt you are a "cyclist" as you claim.
Look johndoe, I agree with Rosie that the cyclist on our roads, at least in Adelaide ignore the road rules and put themselves and other road users in danger. For the starter they don't have to know the road rules and can drive between the cars. How stupid is that?

However, Rosie's comment about TDF cyclist in the barbed wire went to far, and I don't like one bit of it.

I would agree with the sentiment so far there seems to be riders out there that just seem to give cyclists a bad name overall and then are a few who I don't mind sharing the road with. I pass quite a few cyclists coming in and out of work each day and don't have many problems with them. On Saturday's I keep coming across a group of five cyclists that ride shoulder to shoulder. Considering I come across them on a double lane highway and where the rider on the inside is half way into the the first lane of traffic, I'm amazed how there hasn't been an accident and I have seen a few near near misses with this bunch.

Congratulations to Cadel Evans as well. I quite liked the ad, it was something different and not the kind of ad that you expect to see car manufacturer using to promote the brand. I could why most car manufacturers would not want to do that kind of ad where the end result might not be what the customer expected. If you have a product that can take some punishment why not flaunt that aspect, I say.

Yes adelaide around tour time is very nerve racking , most weekend cyclists are pretty good in relation to road rules .

But come tour time the once a year boys come out makes me very cautious on week ends , saw about 20 ride straight through a red light and nearly get cleaned up by a lady who was not looking sharply .

Chill people!! - I get enough whinging from my kid when it's time to go to bed - dont want to read about it with regards to cyclists.
I commute to work on my mountain bike 3-5 times a week and to say i feel like I'm taking my life into my hands by trusting every single driver that passes me is an understatement. There is bad cyclists and there is bad drivers - it's life - get over it and get back on topic of the thread......
I really like the ad, it's a fresh look compared to the other mundane "nice angle" ads ya see. Well done Skoda for trying something different!! What's funny is the clip I've started to put together is one of those "nice angle" ad's, but hopefully it's a little different with it's "angles" and mood. Need to buy a new camera rig for some shots........

Any adult human who is pleased to see images of another human being injured by stupidity doesn't deserve my respect or interest.
There are a couple of people on this forum who are now on my ignore list.

I've worked around the world, including in Oslo where I had an office 3 blocks from where the bomb went off last weekend. I've been a soldier, and I've worked on 3 continents clearing landmines and UXO for both commercial and humanitarian interests. I've pretty much seen the worst of what man is capable of doing to his fellow man. Black humour is a good way to deal with it, but I don't offer this as an excuse, as I do not feel obliged to be repentant let alone remorseful.

I'm sorry if I've offended some, who in my view are the products of a society that has us wrapped so neatly in cotton wool that it deems it necessary to put little tags on toaster plugs that say, "Do not use in water". I am even sorrier that such is the state of our society.

By some of the morally upright on this nameless, faceless, anonymous forum I have been personally abused, have had words put in my mouth, suffered the wrath of the moderator, and have been deemed unworthy of respect. I'm sure when you're not being judgemental that you're all really decent people. Perhaps I should seek counselling, it seems to be the cure for all that ails these days. Then again, perhaps not.

Before anyone fires off another burst of indignation please consider one very simple truth, I never intended that anyone take my comment seriously. To those who didn't find it the least bit amusing, then so is your right. Nor do I deny anyone their right to take themselves as seriously as they want to, .... but I strongly object to anyone's expectation that I take them that seriousy when I do my best not to take myself seriously at all.
