big thanks guys...that was quick! I don't think any car in the performance segment can match this in terms of space..just huge!!!
u can say that again!!
in terms of numbers, with the rear seats down, the liftback has 1420 litres of space, while the wagon gets a whopping 1620 litres!!!
thats alotta milk.....

I haven't got kids and as they are on the road map, boot space is one of the reasons we didn't wait for a Golf R... After a year and plenty of trips away, I'm yet to have to worry about how to pack the boot, its a nice change from previous cars. The only downside to the boot is the highish lip, wide read bumper and recessed load area (one of the things I liked about the mazda 6 wagon was the low load area). I'm going to need a rubber flap when we get a pram. I'm careful now when I'm lifting loads in, but I'm pretty sure once I'm sleep deprived with a screaming child, it'll be a different story.
so good to see happy RS owners..i think my wavering mind has come to conclusion now..initially wanted new polo GTI, then looked for used Golf GTI and then came across RS..hard to beat in all aspects..hopefully i can sell my current car soon to get into RS...

I have both, prams are not an issue in either, really heavy awkward things are harder to get out of the skoda as you have to get it up over the lip, but kids stuff is no issue. The deepness of the Skoda is an advantage most of the times, but sometimes the width of the 6 helps.

A bloke at work with a current shape Falcon reckons I've got more boot space in my liftback RS
I wouldn't disagree with that. I just love that the Octavia boot is a big box whereas many cars (including the current FG Falcon) have so many undulations! Nice and simple .
