Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New releases coming up in 2011/12

Just read a Skoda press release listing changes for existing models scheduled for mid 2011.

    - Green tec package (stop-start, brake energy recuperation, low resistance tyres) will be sold for models other than GreenLine (1.2 TSi Fabia, Roomsters and 1.2 HTP; 1.4 TSi and 1.6 TDi OCtavias)

    - vast improvements in radio/navigation/human interface systems across all model lines (Amundsen and Columbs modules, preinstalled maps, improvements in mobile phone interface, etc).

    - Front seats ventilation systems and choice of more alloy wheels for Superb model line.

    - Tow bar available for Octy RS (this might be Europe only though )

    - LED lights available for wide range of models (Scouts for example)

    - more color choices for Roomster, Yeti and OCtavia.

    tow bar for Occy vRS???

I've got the Aus dealer supplied one which is manufactured in NZ (Best Bars).
Its relatively tidy and no cutting of the bar required.
pity the vRS only has a tow rating of 1300kg... the 125TDi hardly notices max towing load! except bags the front tyres big time!

How much did you pay if I can ask?

        Ah, cant remember exactly.
wasnt cheap, and mine was sourced by ex vw technician who fitted it at home as a cashie job.
think it was roughly $500 for the bar, $500 for the control module and wiring, and a few bucks to fit... had to be wired all the way from front to back too.... not a quick job.
reasonably happy with the bar though, and doesnt interfere with reverse sensors. I leave it on all the time.
just need to solder some load resistors into by flat to round trailer wire plug adaptor so it doesnt have a spaz when I tow trailers with LED lights...
btw - anyone know the resistor value i need to make the dummy load?

        cheers
        Drew
