Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Possible Recall - Coil Pack on the 2.0TFSI

reading over at the briskoda forum, i noticed a thread about a possible recall for Coil Packs.
anyone with a FL MK2 Petrol vRS got a call from their respective dealers yet?

i've got the TSI engine (as opposed to the 'TFSI') - i wonder if these will b in the same boat?

I beleive you probably meant to say pre FL vRS, basically any with TFSI in Australia. Mine has always been a hard starter...wonder if thats the issue. I always forget to mention it to the dealer, but for a car coming from a cold country it always has been. I put it down to the auto headlights coming on in the morning and putting a drain on the battery.

There is nothing on the Recalls Australia website, in fact Skoda isn't even listed. It would appear on that website before you heard anything from a dealer because that is the way the system works.

We had our Octavia coils replaced under warranty about three months ago after a bad misfire.
Our Mkv 2.ofsi golf is about to get its coils changed for a second time.

          What's your production date?
It would be a shame if there was a recall and Skoda Australia done nothing about it and replaced the coils only when they would fail.

As the link in the Briskoda thread says, it's the recall 28F7 and affected cars are Octavia 02-05 and VRS 06, VRS from My 2008-08 are fine. The sticker with the recall no. could sometimes be found in the boot under the carpet, close to vehicle info sticker.

But not alone. BMW got away with it for about 6 years in the 3 series and even charged owners who weren't savvy enough to complain.

It think this is waht you're refering to:

There is a total VW range recall called 28FS5 regarding Coilpacks
