RS wagon rear seat comfort

Hi All,

Did a trip to East Gippsland in the RS wagon recently and had a chance to really test out the car. While there we did a big loop through the mountains and the rear seat passengers were complaining about it being uncomfortable. So I jumped in the back for a while, and had to agree with them that the ride in the back seat on rough roads was not particularly nice. It definitely felt like every bump and surface imperfection was being fed through the rear suspension. Has anyone else spent anytime in the back seat on rough surfaces? Keen to hear others views.

I've never had any complaints in my car. I assume that the wagons and hatches have the same suspension and back seat.

I definitely find the front seats more comfortable but having said that, the rear ones aren't that bad. Increased force and cooling would be nice from the air-vents in summer, some more legroom and cup holders would be nice, but otherwise I find it a nice place to be. And I've done a traffic-filled 9-hours to Coffs Harbour in the back too!

I did a 300k trip in the back seat of my PRE-FL Octavia wagon and found it comfortable.. nothing like the Superb now.. but would never have complained.
And its really easy to remove the rear seats in the Octavia. The Book should show how to remove it.. i found it easy.

Just put up the squab and unclick the two rods holding them in place. Every time I need the seats down I do that - it literally takes 20 seconds.

Maaate.... It once took me 12 hours to drive back to Penrith from Coffs Harbour with a car full of unhappy broomballers and a load area full of stinky broomball gear... Not pleasant...

Anyway, back on topic. Rear seats are ok in our wagon, but I found the ride to be more jiggly in the petrol than the diesels I test drove (i'm guessing because there's less weight over the front axle?). I've also found the ride is not as competent at much higher speed. The control is good, just no where near as plush. As in, I find it unpleasant to drive bumpy roads at high speed (and I'm talking in the bush where the ton is not metric)... Were you hauling arse?
