Man talk about being offensively late with subscription deliveries!!! Magazine was in Coles by 16th (Wed) and wife rang to tell me the magazine FINALLY arrived in the mail today 18th (Fri). What's going on with Wheels mag? Seems like I was getting emails advising of the lateness for several months and then all of a sudden no notice but offensively late? Not much point of a subscription really is there? Well apart from some minor savings $$ wise. Well looks like I only have 3 more issues to go til the end of my 24 month subscription.

I'm a subscriber too, and my original post was on the same day that I got my delivery (Sydney). Only 4 days difference between you and me, not bad considering you live in Northern Antartica.

I'm in Nunawading in metro Melb and I got my Wheels mag on Tuesday 15/3 - when we lived in Blackburn the next suburb across I always had delivery delays.

Liked the used car review on the Ocy RS but the negative comment about the spare tyre was a little harsh although it's not a matching alloy, it's a proper steel wheel and tyre from the base model Octavia - I don't think the 18inch alloy and tyre would fit in the spare wheel well. Good compromise.

        Cheers

Actually from memory it does, I think someone here found it was more just a cost saving.

They have to read them to ensure quality control?

Your local post office can rest easy, they have nothing to do with the mail delivery.

At least it comes with one. I just bought a new Fiesta as the runabout to join my RS in the garage and it doesn't come with a spare wheel at all! I thought that was illegal? Just a 12volt pump and the goo to put in the wheel to get you to the servo. If the flat is a big cut, no goo is going to fix it. Very disappointed.

So the full size steel rim that comes with the RS is a great option in comparison.

Um correct me if i'm wrong but weren't we talking about the cost saving associated with a magazine subscription?

nope, plenty of vehicles coming out with goo & a pump. Pretty hopeless for Australian conditions.

Is there a spare wheel kit available as an option? Is there room to stow a spare/jack/wheelbrace?

In Victoria at least there is no legal requirement to carry a spare wheel. However if you do carry one it must be in roadworthy condition.

And that just proves how wrong Vicroads can get things. I mean seriously, what an absurd law.

So if a car fails a roadworthy inspection due to the spare being flat/bald etc, all you need do is ask the mechanic to throw the spare away!

Lets just say that that has been done more than once in the used car business. It's not so stupid when you think it through.
If you have no spare you stop the car beside the road and get help. If you have a bald or otherwise unroadworthy spare you put that on the car and drive on public roads with an unroadworthy tyre which may ultimately endanger not only your life but also the lives of other road users.

While that law has it's merits, I applaud Victoria on making ESP mandatory on all new cars. It kept the Chinese s**tboxes away for at least a year and adds just a little bit of sophistication to the Honda Jazz .
