Just curious, being new to the Octavia RS. Why are you guys calling it the vRS instead of the RS?

Because that is the correct model designation. Have a look at the badges.

It's known as the 'RS' and referred to in almost all markets as the 'RS' (check out Skoda's own website, both Oz and global RS)... it's just that in the UK I believe there's a trademark infringement if Skoda were to use the 'RS' designation (Ford owns it if I recall??), so Skoda badge it the 'vRS' to get around that, and they leave the cars badged as 'vRS' despite them being known worldwide as the RS...

Debatable, they can't call it the RS in the UK due to Ford using that, for some reason we get the same badges as them, but the proper name here is the RS. They kinda make the v part not so noticable accidentally on purpose.

Tiguan is the silly 4wd shape, that is not that good off road and the lack of manual option emphasises this IMO.
Id get a manual skoda wagon all day.

It really depends what you value more, quiet ride with higher siting position (good for city traffic) or big boot and sportier feel of the RS (some Tig owners could dismiss that-especially the TSI ones). If you travel long distances on smooth roads, Octavia would be my pick.
This thread could solve the noise issue making the Octavia a far more sensible choice unless you REALLY need the AWD (ie tow a boat or horse float or go to the snow lots).
