$410 quoted for the 15000km service on an Octavia RS DSG - that makes you the most expensive in Australia by my reckoning - well done!

I have a few 1000k to go before my service is due and I have always been fearful of what I will be quoted from this company seeing they are the only Skoda dealer in Brisbane. I'm still weighing up the pros and cons of where to go.Skoda Octavia RS Wagon TSI DSG Candy White MY10

You should be able to get that price down to around mid $300s by asking.
In this post it outlines what Brisbane Prestige tried to charge me in November. It seems that costs have escalated by 3.5% in the 3 months from November.
You should be able to get it cheaper if you supply your own oil.
The only reason I went there rather than take it somewhere like Prestige and Performance at Coorparoo was to maintain the extended (dealer) warranty.

I have a 2010 Octavia 2.0 TDI DSG, they quoted me $395 for a 15000 k service last week. Give Laurie Svenson a call at German Autos at Geebung. He quoted me $305 for 15000 k service. I also rang Skoda at Gold coast and Nambour and they were dearer about $420 mark.
Laurie has fixed the oil cooler on my previous 02 Passat, is doing the timing belt, front rotors and pads and caster bushes today on MK4 golf ($1400). Has a good rap.
Hope this adds fuel for thought

Hi there,
I'm the Marketing Manager at Brisbane Prestige Skoda and noticed your comments and concerns about dealer servicing. Whilst each service case has it's own individual circumstances that must be factored in, generally there are a few points worth noting around the dealer service experience.
The manufacturer will often evaluate the vehicle's service history to help determine whether or not they will cover certain repair claims. If your vehicle has been serviced outside the factory-dealer, you run the risk of tarnishing your service history and having to pay for the repair.
We offer our customers peace of mind through the provision of factory trained and approved service technicians only. When we service your vehicle, you will also get any warranty work or required service upgrades carried out free of charge.
In most cases, your vehicle is the next most significant purchase after your house, and it is worth protecting this vehicle to ensure you get the best return from your investment. When it eventually comes to resale, a service logbook with dealer stamps is going to help achieve a better selling price.
Hopefully this helps in evaluating your future options.

Sorry simon but I don't think you have any valid points. IMHO people don't really care where the car is serviced, so long as it is done by a qualified mechanic. Btw I had my 30k service done at skoda launceston tas and at 290, it was significantly cheaper than other skoda outlets around Australia. So in conclusion, I believe other outlet prices are unrealistically inflated for so called professional service. As for parts being under warranty, they are still covered as long as there installed correctly, so again your comments are a non issue for people.
Just my 2 cents worth

A warranty claim cannot be rejected simply because you used an independent shop, unless they have used inappropriate work practices.

Yet AGAIN, another stealership trying to justify their exorbitant servicing costs.
Yet AGAIN, a misinformed dealer representative tries to argue the point without having researched the facts, potentially giving a customer incorrect advice.

Yes, we can always go to ACCC or fair trading or whatever government body, but definitely they'll need to conduct an investigation to see if the independent shop really carried out the proper practice before they'll order Skoda Aus to honor the warranty. In my experience, these kind of "investigation" will take weeks to months. In the mean time, you won't have a car and the inconvenience that will come with it.
This is a sad fact, and exactly why the reason dealer can charge a premium! I fully agree we are being ripped off, but as a poor consumer, we are always gonna be the loser. Therefore, many for the fear of voiding their warranty and to avoid the hassle of no car, many will go back to the dealership and get ripped off.
Has anyone tried Bryan Byrt Skoda? How much do they charge? At least with 2 dealership in Brisbane now, Brisbane Prestige won't have the monopoly.

Unfortunately due to the structure of a dealership, there is more people that a service has to pay for.
I work at a dealer, and I also tend to disagree with what was said on the previous page.
Outside services will only tarnish your 'goodwill claims' outside of the warranty period.
