Congrats on getting your RS, Damo105!

Hopefully it's me in August asking all the how to questions when I take delivery of my Superb lol

Did you test drive a wagon or a hatch?
Wagons tend to sound a bit tinnier because of the additional open space.
If you spend some time on Briskoda you will find a few threads about soundproofing wagons with Dynamat and similar products.

I like the look of what you have ordered. I showed the missus the Superb and we are in love with it. Really would like to own one in the future, especially the 4x4 TSI version. Apparently it's the same engine from the VW R36 if I'm not mistaken?

4x4 V6 FSI you mean? Haha yeah, same as an R36 but a tad more comfort orientated with 29kW less. Ask CanberravRS about his, he's rapped!

I saw my first R36 wagon tonight on the way home from work tonight. It was a nice clean white one and guessing by the number plate not all that old. Definitely plenty of pick and go about it. But if you gave me a choice between the that and the Superb wagon I would have to go with the Superb. For me the power trade off is worth it for the comfort. I have heard that V6 FSI is a detuned version of the R36 engine but I'm not 100% sure whether it is not.

With 191KW and 350nm of torque, I'm sure the performance of the Superb I have ordered will be more than enough to have some fun with here and there lo and be just a great all round car to ownl. I was looking at a Subaru Liberty GT but the V6 FSI Superb has similar power figures but the interior and comfort of Superb leaves the Liberty GT far in its wake.

I have had a few friends knock me for the choice of next car. But come August, I'm sure there is going be a lot humble pie eaten by those same people! Personally I can't wait to take delivery and I'm more than sure that I have selected the best car for what I was looking for and secondly what I was prepared to spend.

Test drive was in a wagon as well. It might just be that over the 5 months of waiting for the car my expectations had grown and my memory of the sound had faded!

Have had the car 5 days now, and while I've only done 250kms, my first impressions are good. I've been taking it easy and haven't really taken it over 4000rpm, so haven't been able to stretch its legs, but there's plenty of torque. And there seems to be a gear ratio for every occasion, in that regard it's the best gearbox I've ever had.

Not having multi-function controls on the steering wheel is a pain, especially after stepping out of a car that did, but I don't regret getting the manual. But Skoda really needs to address that.

Everyone at work who's seen it has been impressed.

A strange thing happened today. Parked the car down the local shopping strip, left the sunroof tilted but otherwise closed and locked everything. When I returned to the car about 30 mins later all 4 windows were open between 1-2cm. The windows were definitely all closed when I locked the car. It was a warm day in Melbourne today so the car was hot inside.

So I'm thinking there are only three possible explanations; I somehow opened the windows by remote without knowing, the car is inhabited by a poltergeist, or there is some system that opens the windows if the interior temperature gets too hot.

                        Can anyone shed any light?

Might be something on the new MY11 RS's? Never had that happen on our MY10 rs

The Skoda Superbs that have the solar panel sunroof actually do a similar thing where if it gets to hot inside, a fan will turn on to vent the hot air out of the car - running off the solar panel. Pretty nifty.

The windows and sunroof will close automatically if it rains but I have never heard of them opening and when you think about it it would never happen. Imagine the legal liabilities for VW if windows open automatically and stuff gets stolen.
I suspect you had your hand on the button as you walked away or towards the car.

Just to check, you do know that if you hold the open button down it opens all windows? I suspect as kiwi said you did that.

It also works for closing them including the sunroof.

It used to happen a lot with Land Rover Freelanders. Holding the button down opened the back window for access to the load bay. People used to post all the time on forums saying that their back window was faulty and it had magically opened by itself. I don't ever recall an occasion where there was anything other than owner intervention. Usually it was a case of not bothering to actually read through the owners manual the car companies provide with each vehicle.
