Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Stream MP3 Audio Rear Speakers for Octavia Ambiente

    Hi Everyone

new to this site, we have two Skoda's a MY11 Superb Elegance TDI and a 2008 Octavia Ambiente 1.9tdi

just wondering if anyone would know about the rear speaker cabling for the Octavia Ambiente as it only has speakers in the front, I have removed the tweeter cover in the rear door and cannot see any wiring, and am unable to remove the door panel as I do not have the required tool to undo the special nut to see if there are any cables. I have checked with Skoda Australia and they are unable to answer my query and advised me to speak with my dealer, however when I spoke with the service area they have no idea if there is any cabling running to the door and advised that I would be best to speak with a specialist audio installer.

Has anyone added speakers to the rear doors of their Ambiente? and if anyone might know if there is cabling already there or if I would need to have an audio installer ran cables from the head unit?

Have to say both cars are fantastic and couldn't be happier with our purchases

    thanks everyone

I was told once that VW's production processes were so sophisticated that you didn't get 1 cm more of wiring than was required to build the vehicle as ordered. On that basis I would say it's unlikely that wiring would be in place for speakers that weren't fitted.

Realistically you may actually get a better response to this sort of query on Briskoda. There is a huge wealth of Skoda knowledge there particularly when it comes to doing mods and updates.

Are you sure there aren't any speakers there....I find that really weird. There may not be any tweeters but I thought even the base model had the rear lower speakers.

Pretty cheap penny pinching otherwise, apart from utes and some 4Wds (ie Patrols) I haven't seen a car without rear speakers for years.

Also, along with briskoda maybe try this site:

        www.octavia-forum.de

It's been translated to english so some stuff isn't 100% spot on but you get a good idea of what they are on about. Plenty of info on skodas in there.

          Hi K1W1 and Woofy

          thanks for your responses.

K1W1 I will find time and try Briskoda, thanks for the great suggestion

yeah Woofy I would have to agree, unfortunately in the Ambiente model there are only 4 speakers in the front doors, two main speakers and two tweeters, there are only the grills in the rear doors and no speakers. Have checked several other Ambiente models sitting in the dealers yard and they are the same.... apart from being a bit cheap with the speakers have to say the car is fantastic

so what happens when you set yr fader to the rear?

You dont need any specialist tools as such. The screws on the octys are all Torx.
Make a trip to supercheap auto and pick up a torx set. They are about 5 bucks!
I havent removed the rears door cards on mine but the fronts were relatively easy.

Here is a link from briskoda on how to remove door cards

I guess they have to do something to differentiate the Ambient from the Elegance.

In some ways you are lucky. The woofers are good but the rear tweeters are a bit close to the ears & somewhat harsh.
