Getting a bit passionate there K1W1... An answer is really easy though.. they are UCI championship cars.. eg the ones that where used down in MELB/Geelong earlier in the year.
I've got stacks of pics from SBS and the rego's are all the same from what I can tell.

I know you're not all bad. It's for people like you & overseas I do. It helps promote Skoda, South Australia & bike riding, all good .

I just got back from SA - I was down relaxing at Goolwa/Victor Harbour for the week with the wife & her family, had the mountain bike with me and thought about heading up to do the Twitter ride with Lance ( for a **** stir amongst the roadies ) , but the surf was good that morning and riding with 10,000 other riders was a bit much for me. I was back in Adelaide yesterday but it was the TDU rest day and i was heading back to the east coast .
Pity I didn;t have some spare time and stay for a few days to check it out - I could have stickered up my silver RS wagon and got in amongst it ha ha ha
