Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    RS gets Tint this wednesday!

    So my RS (named 'Olly' lol) goes back to the dealership this wednesday to get the tinting done on all the windows, because we recieved the car during the christmas period - the tinter wasn't available.

    This has got me thinking, I am assuming that when I take it in the tinter will put the darkest legal tint on all the windows. I am considering the whole privacy glass tinting that you get on the wagons and getting very dark tint on the rear windows but legal on the fronts. Surely it shouldn't cost any extra to get that done.

    Has anyone else done this or got photos of what it looks like? My main thinking behind it is that it will have kids in the back in the future, and I like dark tint

    Not really sure it looks all that good.
    It shouldn't cost any extra to get different levels of tint put on.

    Lowest legal is 35% but that still looks quite tame.
    I would ask to see what type of thints they have so you can choose what level you want.

      I wouldn't mind going darker then the legal tint, I just don't want it to cause issues with insurance or something like that. Knowing my luck, they will sting me on something like that when it came to the crunch.

      The tint on your tiguan in your sig looks perfect, do you know what % that is?

        I saw the darkest legal one they had on offer and it was pretty average so i asked what else they could do.
        Ended up going to 20% and it is great during the day, bit of a pain in low light area's though (i.e. driveway at night time)
        Cost the same as the 35%
