Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Barloworld changed their mind on Skoda franchise??

Looks like Barloworld Moorabbin are dabbling in the Skoda brand, not sure whether they have brought this ex-factory or whether Mentone have put some cars on consignment?

Might even be Barloworld taking the franchise back from Mentone, highly unlikel but either way its interesting given the almost on existent interest they had in the brand at Ferntree Gully

I had my first good look at the Skoda product at Ferntree Gully, and given that this is my stamping ground, it was rather irritating when buying the Superb wagon to find they were gone and I had to travel to the other side of the universe to get one. Even Barloworld at Glen Waverley would suit better than the current three locations. As it is, I will probably use Burwins for servicing.
Skoda Superb Elegance Wagon 2.0 TDI DSG, Storm Blue Metallic, Glamour Ivory - Onyx floor, Panoramic roof, False floor, 3 spoke steering, Roller blinds, MDI, KESSY, Power tailgate, Tow bar - delivered and in service as of February 23rd. They didn't tell me there was no Bluetooth - grrrr.

It's a used car that has no doubt been traded. Talk about adding 2 + 2 and getting 15!

SkodaK they were absolutely rubbish, despite being close, I was glad to see them go before they caused anymore damage.

          The description says 'Executive Driven'...

So, I'd say that it would be a similar situation to when Essendon VW have Skoda ex-Factory cars on the lot...

They get them at the right price, and its almost a VW, isn't it?

Executive driven means nothing. It's marketing hype to attract a person with pretensions. We used to say "Executive driven" on ex Budget Lease cars from Telstra for goodness sake.
You may be correct about the source though. It could be an ex Skoda or VAG car that has gone through the auction system. Who knows the "Executive" may even have been a series a motoring journalists all carefully evaluating the acceleration, braking and cornering capabilities of the vehicle.

Tongue in cheek Kiwi and I'm sure even you can see the irony of a business that shunned the brand as it was 'non viable' only to actively source one from VW a year later to retail on the yard at their VW dealership. Oh yeah, I took the liberty to call in today, they brought it ex-factory.

It speaks volumes for the Skoda brand that VW dealers are actively seeking to retail the product, might actually do more for the brand than
                the pathetic Skoda advertising?!

                    No it doesn't.

It means it was 'the right price' (ie: cheap), and the management team have taken a punt they can sell it with plenty of gross in it.
