Absolutely it really depends on the individual customers relationship with the service person but these days it's getting harder to "fudge" things at the dealership end. If the claim is major (and that's really what we are talking about) and unusual for that vehicle then there is every likelyhood that the manufacturer will want one of their reps to inspect the vehicle before they authorise things. That tends to work against the customer because the dealership don't want to get caught out either not noticing things they should or deliberatly ignoring them.

FWIW, I think that if you start making modifications, you should assume that your factory support is invalid.

Hey Rob, I'm just down the road in Heathmont... Where did you get your exhaust?
Did you order online, or is there a supplier in the area?
And if you dont mind me asking, what did you pay?

Hi Les, I bought mine from the Australian distributor. The guy's name is Paul and is best contacted at info@jetexexhausts.com.au He was very helpful. I paid around a grand from memory. Are you also looking to fit to a Octavia RS?

I'm in Blackburn - if you want to have a listen and a look, PM me, I'm always looking for an excuse to go for a bit of a burn around. I can also recommend a guy to fit it (in Bayswater, just a local mechanic type, good guy) - we learnt a few lessons fitting mine...

So is the Jetex ok on the Octavia?
I have the option of the Jetex or the Miltek. Plus points with the Jetex is it's 3" and would match my down pipe well but is it loud and boomy? Does any one have any clips or even pics from the rear of the car?

Hi rob, I know I'm not Les and that your post was a few months ago but hopefully your offer of a meet extends to other Skodites because I've just PM'd you. Fingers crossed you reply today? He He He.

After looking at a few options for an exhaust mod for my car, I've decided to go with the Jetex cat-back. Paid for it today and it should take 7-10 days via airmail to arrive from the UK. The service from Jetex has been top-notch so far, with my emails being answered no later than one day later.
I went to my local exhaust mechanic and we put the car on the hoist to see how much of a headache the old system would be to get off. The only problem would be that the stock exhaust is fitted above the rear suspension and needs to be cut in order for it be removed. Other than that it all looks pretty straightforward and shouldn't take more than an hour or so to fit.
I'll be getting my wastegate clip repair done before I get the exhaust fitted, just in case fingers are pointed by the warranty watchers...

It's been a big day. After getting the wastegate rattle fixed this morning, my mechanic was able to fit my new cat-back Jetex Exhaust System pretty much straight afterwards.
The hardest part of the install was removing the old one, but they managed to do it with just one cut. Installing the Jetex was extremely simple and fits even better than the original & is much better quality.
The main reason for me choosing Jetex was to improve the exhaust sound & the system sounds perfect in my opinion, very impressive. Nice deep burble at idle, while maintaining this deep ballsy sound all the way up the rev range. The sound reminds me and my mechanic of a Golf R's exhaust. Inside things have remained pretty composed, you can definitely hear the rumble while accellerating, otherwise it's not noticeable while cruising and certainly never sounds boomy.
Looks-wise the exhaust looks similar to the original, except for the twin pipes being slightly bigger and looking more substantial. Finish is abolutely perfect except for a dent in the first muffler caused by being transported from the UK I assume. Doesn't bother me really, because as my mechanic said, driving on Sydney's s**t roads will no doubt cause a few more dents over time!
Here are some photos of the installed system. The service from Jetex was excellent and delivery was a very fast 7 days from the UK. Definitely recommend them!

I'm looking at getting a new catback. I was going to get a Milltek system but have been put off by the clamp on tips and reviews of how quiet it is.
You guys still happy with the Jetex and is it a definite improvement in sound over stock?
                      Cheers.

Definitely still happy with mine. The sound has settled down after a few weeks and is ever so slightly slightly quieter (which is a good thing IMO). Much better than the stock system, where one of my mates described my car as sounding like a hybrid, "whenever you used to drive up, your car just made this humm sound, now it has some balls."

EDIT: The price for the exhaust included shipping. All up was $899.00.

Try Tony Beckett at Demon Tweeks in the UK. Around the $750 mark for a mk5 gti shipped at the current exchange rate .

How does it sound when you step on the gas? Do you still get the nice DSG pops/ fart?

Up front you can hear the wastegate/turbo a lot more. Exhaust note is a lot deeper at first and once past 4000rpm it sounds really great, nice and mean. And yes the exhaust does 'pop' when the DSG changes, very much like the Golf R, just a bit louder of course.
