Off topic, but it's 3 years, no? It's not how much faith they have in their own tech so much as they know people who buy most of their cars can be had for more money, compared to those buying Jap cars...

You can also ask why pay $600 for a 5 yr factory warranty for a Mazda or Honda when you can get it included when you buy a Hyundai.

ah.....that also explains why they get more goodies as standard - like electric folding mirrors & 12 speaker audio, just to name a few.

Nope you missed the point. VAG only give factory warranty for 2 yrs. The extra year and/or unlimited kms we see here is VAG Australia covering the extra year. Its true for VW and Audi as well. Mazda/Honda have 3 yr factory warranty, and the extra year or 2 are also backed by factory, so cheaper. VAG are covering the extra 2 yrs you can get here, so it's pricey as its not factory backed. If it were to do with perception and what people pay, the extension would be on a scale, but its the same price for all three brands, and the exact same warranty.

Go GIAC for the Skoda.. Vince (whose on here) got 160 at the front wheels from his Tune and a few other bits bolted on afterwards. Sounds like stock, goes like .. well you know lol Just my opinion

Christmas always good for sales i guess though too!

            Off topic again...

My bad, I guess. I've not noticed that the factory warranty is split for the first 2 years being VAG Global and the last year being VAG Australia. Even if that is so, I can't see the difference it makes. I can understand if the first 2 years is factory backed and the last year being dealer backed. Just curious... It would be interesting to work out the difference though

Probably missed the point again, but from my experience, the extended warranties were not the same price nor length either. (Vag being more expensive)

I have noticed though, through personal experience, better support from VW and Audi (and Subaru) when the warranties are close to running out or have just run out, compared to others, like Holden, etc (Don't know about Honda/Mazda)

I would be fairly sure that the extra warranty (years 4 and 5) would be insured by VAG Australia through an insurance company. It's unlikely that they would carry the risk themselves. You'll probably find that the policy cost is based on Audi or VW historical costs as there would be no data available in Australia for Skoda history.

How are you finding traction now with the added "punch" ?? Have you looked at possibly fitting a whiteline Anti-lift kit to help with traction?? http://www.whiteline.com.au/product_...=KCA316&page=1

Interesting, i spent 4 hours testing a superb wagon v6 AWD a couple of weeks ago up and down some hilly B roads in the adelaide hills , cannot break traction , goes like stink , but hunts like hell for a lower gear at every corner , or in manual mode you have to change down .

The RS now has more torque than the V6, and on hills it just powers on relentlessly no need to change down .

The torque is so good that 6th feels like 4th when you overtake , less gear changes , and had the economy is actually better than pre APR .

I will check out whiteline , thanks

You have to remember the Superb V6 is not a sporting model car.. its a Luxury car.. Anyone expecting it to out do a Octavia vRS in the hills is dreaming as its nearly 500kg heavier.
Ive driven nearly 2000 klms in my Superb V6 and its no Octavia vRS, its something totally different. But I would trust the Superb on the B roads, in the hills every day, where the Octavia I would only trust in the Dry.

Yep , but the V6 does handle like a sporting car , very grippy indeed , and quick , but it has to change down more frequently because of the weight/torque factor , its very close to an R36 which is a sports wagon indeed .

Biggest difference i noticed was the RS lower fuel consumption , identical route , driving quick , 8.35l v 12.8l .

Traction in the RS/APR is a problem in the wet and on dry when moving off at corners if you push like a looney , on the move 40kph up no problem at all unless very wet .
