  • LED Daytime Driving Lights

I've noticed that the passenger side LED daytime driving lights on my car are slightly different in colour to the ones on the drivers side. I especially notice this when I drive into my basement during the day and see the different colours illuminated on the wall in front of me.
The passenger side has a green tinge compared to the blue tinge on the drivers side.
Anyone else have/noticed this at all?

Not on mine, sorry. Sounds weird, give it a really good clean - maybe there's a thin film of oil on it?

Can you see any difference in the LED when you look closely?

I always have my lights on auto so the headlights tend to show up by the time the lights are reflecting ogg anything. I may need to jump out in the daylight hours and have a look,.....

I've had a look on the outside & there's a noticeable colour difference, especially when they are dimmed & the xenons are on. Hmmm, do I bother getting Skoda to look at it? Probably should leave it incase I get another colour when they fix it!

The two i have seen getting around all seem to be different in colour from side to side.. but im wondering if thats just the angle you are looking at them from as LED are exceedingly directional with the Main output of light.

Just went down to have another look to make sure I'm not going crazy, & they are a different colour no matter what angle they are viewed from. I washed the car on the weekend, so they are clean.
Meh, doesn't really bother me, as long as they both are working. Just wondered if it was normal or not.

Unless it's some sort of safety thing in the EU we don't know about the only explanation I can think of is discolouration of the lens. The actual LEDs will I assume all be the same.
I guess the thing to do is either find another vehicle from the same batch and compare or throw the issue at Skoad and see what they say.

As you are aware i received my car at the same time as yours and i dont have this issue with the DRL's.
They are both exactly the same colour.

I had a very weird issue when I picked my car up from new. It had noticable bulges in both headlight lenses where the primary beam shines though. Almost looked like they had severely heated up, ie someone had left the lights on for a long time with something covering the lights causing the lens to deform. Skoda replaced them both straight away, and no issues since, maybe something like that happened, ie someone left some plastic film on one and it got hot/and or the film colour came off...quite often the plastic films used are tinted blue.

                      +1

when i start my car inside my garage, my drls light up the white wall - they both shine the same color against it.

now that 'woofy' mentioned it, have u checked to see if they left a film over the drl lens? u know that thin plastic film thingy used when the car is in transit mode. i don't think the drls r covered with that plastic film, but its worth a look - with the drls off.

if not, get the dealer to replace it. its under warranty. wat if its some sort of overload or similar happening to the particular drl cluster, causing it to operate at a different voltage & hence the discoloration!

I purchased the car through Wakling Group and had exactly the same issue with the left LED (passenger) being green, I took it back with a couple of other smaller trim issues and had the LED light replaced under warranty, wasn't questioned at all. Awesome motor - enjoy!

Ergh, I just phoned the dealer & he said that the lights should have a "greenish tinge" WTF?
He said they will look at it when I take it in to get the rubber seal for the back door replaced that the window tint guys ripped...

Bollocks, it was so obvious when i showed the Skoda mechanic, if they're supposed to have a greensih tinge then why don't both of the LED's have the same "greenish tinge", they should be consistent, i'm sure when they see it they'll agree with you.

that's a load of crap from ur dealer - he's just trying to avoid the hassle of replacing it.
if both were greenish - fair enough.
but one blueish, and the other greenish - that's not right/acceptable.
