  • Skoda vRS alarm goes off (in the heat?)

Hi there, first post in the Skoda forums.

The last few days in Canberra have been hot, and could it be a coincidence, that after parking my car, and locking it, within a minute the alarm goes off?

I have had to open and close the doors and relock it, and then it seems fine.

So far it has happened 3 times in the last two days. Does not happen in my garage after the drive home.

Perhaps i am not closing the car doors properly. How does one set off the alarms?

I had an experience like that once.. but found that a blow fly got in the car.. and unless you hit the button on the drivers B pillar to nerf the interior sensors it can go off easily if a bug gets in.

I do a bit of Camping and fishing and have found out at 3am in the morning the hard way when your camping next to your car and it wakes you up with the alarm from a bug inside the car.

I've also had it happen when wind blows in a left tilted sunroof....

Hmm all plausible theories. Although I am pretty sure there were no flies in there, and I did not open my sunroof.

Has the alarm been known to go wonky?

Yep they all came stock with the full interior alarm, but it was dropped in the update.

If you have a red rectangular button down your B pillar about kidney height where you sit.. you have a full alarm. if not.. then you only have imobiliser.

This is straight from the Manual

                When is the alarm triggered?
The following security areas of the locked vehicle are monitored:
                 Bonnet,
                 Boot lid,
                 Doors,
                 Ignition lock,
 Angle of the vehicle*  page 45,
                 Vehicle interior*  page 45,
 A drop in voltage of the on-board power supply.
An alarm is immediately triggered if either of the two battery terminals is disconnected
while the anti-theft alarm system is activated.

Interior monitor* and Towing protection monitoring*
Switch off the interior monitor and towing protection monitoring
                – Switch off the ignition.
                – Open the driver door.
                – Press the button  at the centre column on the driver side  fig. 32, the symbol
 which lights up in the button changes from red to orange.
                – Lock the vehicle within 30 seconds.
The interior monitor and the towing protection monitoring are switched on again
automatically the next time the car is locked.

Mine was also out in the sun all day today so the neighbours to admire the new arrival and the alarm never went off in mine.
Although you state plausable you will probably find it was a fly in the vehicle or someone trying to pinch the CAR bur that wouldn't be plausable. LOL

Yes i have experienced just recently again, a moth , usually its because i tilt roof and a leaf blows in .

Nice alarm though certainly lights up my driveway big time , any crim who got in would get a bright noisy response .

It is very sensitive so even a small insect can set it off

Anyone ever have a poorly fitted aftermarket job? I had one in my Twin Cam in the mid 90s. It'd go off in the heat and the middle of the night (probably as it cooled down or something). So often that I'd eventually just turn it off and go back to sleep. Once I did that, and someone was actually breaking into it. LOL.

Alarm has gone off 3 times tonight in my garage! This is even after I did the safe securing locking ... which should disable the interior monitoring. Sighs ... looks like a trip to the dealer is in store.

Anyone has any other suggestions for self diagnosis? Really not sure the dealers can help as the issue appears intermitten.
