  • Thinking of ordering a RS Skoda.

Looking at ordering a white manual RS 147. Salesman told me that delivery would be the end of Jan on any color ordrered now. Does that sound right as I've read that people are waiting up to 6 months. Anyone ordered one from WA recently and if so, do they negotiate all on price? Cheers.

Mine came exactly 4 months after order - 28th December to 28th April. I assume that the New Year break would have slowed things down.

I don't know if I got lucky, or it was the fact that I have known one of the other dealers for a long time (didn't realise he worked there though), but I got a few discounts, practically without asking eg. dealer charge had 50% knocked off,a 'government' discount (I do work for the government!) and something else too.

yes, they negotiate if you are "serious". I realise you are in WA but as an example, Jarvins Burwood (no longer selling Skoda) didn't want to know me & acted as if they were selling Ferrari. The dealer i bought from in Campbelltown (also no longer a Skoda dealer) was the opposite & gave me a trade-in about $4k more than anyone else offered & did drive-away pricing on the vehicle, so overall I was about $7k in front of Jarvins.

I think that if you can't get delivery at 50% & 5% off RRP then you aren't trying. I'm pretty sure that a few WA folk have brought their car from the eastern states & had them trucked over (a mate of mine in darwin buys his cars in SA all the time)

order now for jan?!?! i find that hard to believe for a factory order build!!
that's barely 2 months from now!!
it takes a 1.5 months (7 weeks) alone just to ship it down here!!!

i ordered mine back in june (15/06).
am expecting it in my hands in a week or 2.
that would make it 5 months.

had i ordered a diesel, i'd probably b waiting till christmas or later!!!

The OP said end of January 2011 that's around 12 weeks from now.
Don't forget that WA people get delivery 7-10 days quicker than east coast people because the ship stops there first.
Realistically I think it's a bit short the dealers quote 3 months but it seems to be closer to 4 months for most people depending exactly how the transport and factory build dates all tie up.
If I was ordering today I'd be hoping late January but expecting late February.

Maybe they have some already on the way that are yet to be accounted for. Wishful thinking

I have had a dealer pm me a quote, no where near 4k off. I'll have to look at some of the other dealers. Wonder if the Perth dealer is aware that they are losing sales to interstate dealers due to their lack of willingness to negotiate.

I dare say there should be a few they used in the Tour Down Under coming onto the markey in early february. Apparently they share them out amongst the dealers for sale.

The major bicycle road race in Australia held in SA in January every year. Skoda are a major sponsor of bicycle racing world wide and provide most of the support vehicles which are then sold through the dealer network as used cars.

I've decided to stick to a local purchase as I have a car to trade and I don't want the hassle of trying to sell the old car, while buying a new unregistered car that I'm unable to see in the flesh. Only trouble is that the local dealer isn't showing a lot of interest in calling me back. I would have thought they would be pretty keen to sell more cars as I'm not seeing that many on the roads in Perth. I've been looking for the right family car for months and I thought I'd settled on the right one. As a potential buyer you want the dealer to work a little for the sale but in two separate dealings with Skoda in Perth they have shown little interest in chasing the sale. Unfortunately I might have to continue to look elsewhere
