Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Browsing through some of the Briskoda threads and see alot of posts about Maxidot.
Dont want to seem an idiot but can anyone enlighten me on what it is.

I did not specify it in my order so not sure if it will be included as standard.
Ordered - MY11 SKoda Octavia vRS

    Any non sarcastic comment appreciated.

its basically a more informative/graphical display that sits between the tacho & speedo.
for example, the standard display will just say a door is open, but not which one. the maxidot on the otherhand, will actually show u which door is open.

the maxidot also allows u access to certain settings, enabling u to make changes to certain things - such as coming home function.
the standard one does not, and will require a trip to the dealership to make the changes u desire.

    there r many more things.

the oz spec'ed vrs comes with maxidot as standard fit, unlike the folks in europe.

No sarcasm? For a 16 year-old, it's gonna be hard...

Put simply, it's the higher-end info screen/trip computer in the dials.

That is all you need to worry about. It's not an option here it's standard.

Thanks to all for the none sarcastic comments (even the 16 year old was good - thanks jake).
I had a feeling that it was the display between the tacho and speedo but could not find any mention of it - so thanks again boys.

Glad to see it is standard on the Oz version as Briskoda has list quite a few changes that can be made by Maxidot and i'm sure i will change some of them at some point.

You have to be real careful when reading Briskoda. Skodas in the UK are sold like German cars here. The base price includes a body a drive train and four wheels and that's about it. All sorts of things we get standard (like spare wheels, maxidot, and AC to name three) are optional in the UK even on vRS models. That's one reason why it's not easy to compare prices and why UK prices always look way cheaper.
