bradw's posting about the engine temperature in the 1.8 reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask you guys and girls.
The Octavia RS has a digital oil temperature read out in the MFD, but there is no indication of what "good" or "bad" should be - unlike the coolant gauge. I've read the manual, including the Australian technical supplement.
Normally it hovers around the 99 deg mark when warmed up, sometimes I've seen it at 102 deg when I drive it a bit harder. But the first time I took it and the trailer camping at the coast, it climbed to around 115 deg by the time we got to the top of the Clyde. My stress levels climbed in synch with the oil temperature! Not sure if I'd be game to do that in the middle of summer.
So, what should it be? At what temperature do I start to panic, shut down the car, call Skoda Assist?
