Interesting that the Octavia is currently outselling both the Kizashi and the i45.

Not to brag but I wrote that! If it's Wheels you're referring to I mean... And isn't it a good thing!? I sat in a Kizashi and hated the rear seat, the boot is tiny and the only nice space is the front (it is grey value though). The i45's overdone styling turns people off I think.

Well done Elseano too. The 103TDI is a cracker of an engine! Sucks about the wait though .

this is the trend lately everywhere (worldwide) and VAG does not like this one bit. rumour has it they now want to "derefine" the skoda brand now!!!

I think K1W1 said it really well in a previous thread on the matter, or was it someone else? oh well.. Why lower the Skoda brand? Rather it would make sense to elevate the others? Skoda's are becoming so popular because they are Audi/VW parts packaged cleverly. We all know this, and its part of the reason we all own one.
VAG should set the standard with Skoda and work up from there if they want to have a strong and prosperous future.

Saw the Polo GTI yesterday, but no pricing as yet.

I actually really like the looks, and at this point in time, I think I would get the Polo GTI over the Fabia RS. I would have got the Fabia over the old Polo though

Speaking to the dealer, there's no sign of the Fabia for Aus anyway, and more than likely wont see it for a while, which is a shame... (On the other hand, it's not like they can currently fulfill the required numbers anyway) Otherwise, I totall agree with the other 2 comparisons.

New Polo definitely over the Fabia! The facelifted Fabia (and Roomster) interior is just awful... but in saying that, only the Polo and Fabia have soft-touch plastics (on the dash) in the light-car class so they're definitely high-quality. I'd probably have a Fabia RS over a Polo GTI because of how much cheaper it's likely to turn out (especially having 5-doors as standard). But apparently the SEAT Ibiza Cupra (the third triplet) is the best-driving.

I've seen at least two registered ones on the road in Melbourne so there must be pricing somewhere for people to be able to buy them.

Journo cars? I've seen the new Polos on the road, but no luck yet on the GTI, pricing is supposed to be out next month with delivery soon after... But, I'm sure someone can get them earlier...

I doubt very much that the red one I saw was. It had a dealer sticker with a youngish lady driving south on East link on a Sunday morning about 2 weekends ago. It was brand spankers and looked very much like a proud new owner going for a drive. I passed her doing only a couple of kph faster so I got a real good look at it.
I didn't get a good look at the other one but it was in the Dandenongs and that's a haven for motoring journalists on test drives so it may well have been.
