Just wondering if they've done something stupid like forgetting to put oil in engine pre delivery.

No that wouldn't be the case, they actually run in the engines at the factory before putting them in the car itself. Oil pressure lights would be going nuts at startup everytime they drove as well. 19km is actually a bit usage before delivery, my 6 had 12 on it after being driven around for tinting and a spoiler. My Octy had 22, but I put 10 on during a test drive before buying the demo car. I didn't get a demo price as it was a brand new on the floor and I was the only one who had driven it.

Good news Folks, I'm now (just) back on the road... in the car I bought!
Dealer did a final test from a cold start this morning and so far so good, the pesky oil warning is no longer rearing its ugly head.
I had a lengthy conversation yesterday afternoon with Customer service, and left it to them to liase with the dealership to work out a way to put a smile back on my dial. In the end, they refilled the tank, threw in a couple of accessories and are covering the cost of my 15,000k checkup. At this stage I'm just happy to put this little episode behind me and get on with the job of hopefully enjoying my Octavia.
I discussed with the Customer rep, my frustration in how the diagnosis / repair routine had been handled. Had the Mechanic been able to follow the handbook they would have had the new oil pump in on tuesday and I would have been back on the road wednesday, however by continuing to try other options they delayed the re-delivery of my vehicle by another 2.5 days. She said they would take my comment on board.
Anyway, hopefully happy days from here on in.
Cheers

Amen to that brother! (in-law!)
Hopefully Skoda takes your feedback and puts it into place, sometimes I spose the guys with the wrenches in their hands should be trusted to know what they're talking about instead of having to wait for head office to give them the nod.
But I guess in this day and age it would be naive to think there's not some bean-counter at head office crunching numbers on the most 'economical' way (ie cheapest) to fix the customer's problems, which leads to delays for the customer.
Just glad your issue has been resolved, you've received some goodies for your troubles and you're on the road to happiness... after all, it's a Skoda!Last edited by RSOK; 15-10-2010, 01:37 PM.

odo under a few hundred km can only be rolled FORWARD (adding more kms) not backward. I think it was either on ross-tech (maker of VCDS/VAGCOM).
i'm sure since they are the electronic experts in trip computer and BCM reprogramming, their words can be held accountable.

That was $300-$400 at retail they threw in depending on what the dealer charges so that seems reasinablae to me from here. The only thing I would do is make sure that the free service is mot tied to the dealer so that if you want or need to to take the car somewhere else you have something in writing from Skoda that confirms they will pay the bill.

You can reset the odo to 0 provided it has not exceeded 100ks.
After that milestone, it cannot be changed.
Glad Skoda sorted your problem out mate, hopefully you will have no more.sigpic Camden GTI Performance. VW / AUDI Specialists
