  • Electric Octavia 'Green E Line' Concept

Skoda are showing an all-electric Octavia Green E Line at the Paris motorshow at the moment. 0-100 in 12 seconds and a range of 140km seems alright, especially considering no electric car is so big in size. 270Nm is only 10 shy of my RS too...

    Thoughts anyone?

Pretty good range that'd work well as an urban cruiser, if you had A) a garage so you can recharge it at night and B) a quality wind turbine on your roof (or similar), you could feel pretty smug about the whole thing

Didn't see any info on recharge time?

Yeah no charging time mentioned but I agree it looks cool. I think the Octavia hasn't really dated, despite being six years old and in that concept I think it looks as fresh as ever (especially with the white highlights inside and the wheels too). I can't wait to see the new-gen Octavia but...

I think the passive charging by solar panels on the roof is very cool... allowing say 8hrs of sunlight when you park your car outside whilst at work.. every free volt counts hey!
Agree with the comment on the design.. its unique and still looks fantastic, basic through RS models.

Maybe this is the Skoda surprise for the Sydney motor show?

I was thinking that too, but I don't think the majority of the Australian public are really that interested in electric cars yet (especially because they've only just touched down here and they've been in Europe for years). I think Skoda will have (possibly from the following): a Yeti, a Fabia (hopefully an RS) or some sort of Greenline model (like VW is doing with the Golf Bluemotion). I think the RS-P will be there too (as well as the MY11 models will all their good-value).

If they're smart, they will have a Yeti there. Of course, I'll be there with bells and whistles on (and with my camera too) so I'll upload my pics .

The wagon would be perfect for me during the week. 15km to the office with 5km downhill to start with to recharge things, sitting in the car park all day in direct sunlight with the batteries being charged from the solar panels on the roof then 15km home. I'd probably only rarely need to charge it from mains.
The weekends would be a real problem with 140km range though. I wonder if that range is with no charge coming from either regeneration or solar but I still would be suspect about taking it very far.
