  • Where do you go for servicing (Melbourne)

Our Octavia RS is due for it's first service in a couple of weeks (15,000K).

I was just wondering where you guys take your Skodas for servicing, and how you find the different service departments in Melbourne

+1 - am going to be in the same position.

Along those lines - for potential warranty issues etc - is it best to take it back to the dealer you purchased from? or are all skoda dealers happy to cover such things? Wouldnt mind being able to take my skoda to dealerships that have contributed to this forum previously (ie bayford/mentone etc)

From what I understand, they get paid for genuine warranty work regardless. And I imagine they'd see it as an opportunity to win over your regular servicing and new car buying business. So take it to any dealer with a good rep.

I went back to RIchmond SKoda where it came from, they did ok, and gave me a copy of the official Skoda checklist which he said was more stringent than the Audi one. Price wasn't too bad, and they can either pick up my car in Hawthorn and leave me a courtesy car....or I can bring it in and get a courtesy car. I've done both before. The courtesy cars there can be anything, I've had an RS octy, a Scout or various diesels.

It was around the $300 mark, either more or less....most of it was oil from memory, I need to book in for the 30k/24mth service soon.

Legally you do no have to take a car to any specific dealer for servicing to maintain the factory warranty. You could for example go to Ultratune or somebody similar and your warranty would still be valid and Skoda would still have to fix anything warrantable that failed. The problem occurs when it comes time to prove that servicing has been carried out to factory specification. Third party service centres do not generally have the latest factory information so they are not ware of things like firmware updates or factory messages regarding tweaks or changes that should be made.
If you go to a third party provider keep absolutely perfect records about what work has been carried out and what products (oil, filters, etc) have been used just in case it's required later on.

Have taken my cars ( vw) to volkshome automotive thomastown for years. Have also had warranty issues sorted by vw without argument. Volkshome make sure they use the correct fluids and do the right work so that vw has no come back about voiding warranties. Don't know if he does skoda but vw and Audi for sure
