Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Have to admit I'm a bit hesitant (frightened?) to use it because of axle tramp or wheelspin but maybe you have convinced me?

          To do it,

          1. Select "S" on the gearbox
          2. Turn off ESP
          3. Hold down brake and accelerator at the same time, the engine should rev to around 3000RPM and hold the revs
          4. Let your foot of the brake and GO!

            1. start engine
            2. turn esp off
            3. shift into triptronic ('+'/'-') or 'sport' mode
            4. with left foot on brake, apply throttle (don't floor it!) - should only rev upto 2500-3000 rpm
if u cannot rev past 1200 rpm, u do not have launch control
            5. foot off the brakes and off u go!!

I think I read somewhere that they took launch control off about the time the Mk6 Golf was released (earlier this year).

Tried it out last night. Very entertaining - more wheelspin than I imagined a launch control to create.

ironically, after a few runs of screeching wheels, I was thinking "more power required LOL". Time to start looking at some upgrades?
