Here's my brochure. It's older than yours - mid 2008?

The reason the 45 series works on a 7" rim is because it does have an extra 1/4" of sidewall height. Because of the extra height/pivot length, it can balloon a bit more & therefore fits (just). I help run a website that used to have a lot of RB Liberty owners - it was a recurring question because the Libs had 7x18 with 225/45x18. This size is uncommon (and a Ferrari front size) & therefore expensive (not as bad now as it was a few years back).

Here's the specs on Michelin PS2 (but Goodyear F1A & other popular choices are the same). 225/40x18 at the top (recomended rim range 7.5"-9"); hunt down towards the middle for 225/45x18 (7"-8.5")....... doesn't make sense but that's how it works.

As I said, i'd remove a wheel & have a look just to make sure.

I get really annoyed when car companies use obscure wheel widths. Mazda do it with pretty much every model, it makes tyres more expensive for no reason and quite often means you are really limited with choices as well.

            crap!!
i had a look at the skoda nz - the pages show 18" neptune as standard. yet their my11 brochure states 7Jx17 (wearing 225/45)!
i do like those zenith wheels, but not in 17s!!

I think they learnt that trick from BMW.

Yeah the next trick they learnt was to start selling and fitting tyres in about 2004, they made a market and then cashed in on it.

The specs for the Australian MY11 are practically the same as MY10; except Columbus GPS is now standard and the door sill plates have changed design slightly. Everything else remains the same. Nobody likes a rumour!

Could be worse, you could have bought a Renualt from the 80 s when the French were stupid enough to think that they could make "metric" wheels and Michelin was the only tyre manufactorer doing so, and could name their price for replacments.

less of the 80's Reanualt bashing please. I made a reasonable amount of income for selling 5's, 18's and Fuego's to Americans.

So you're the reason Renault had to quit the US are you?

I was actually working a AMC/Jeep/Renault dealer. At the time AMC (the then owners of Jeep) and Renault were tied up financially some how. To be honest I would have trouble picking which of the three brands AMC, Jeep or Renault had the worst quality but I suspect it wasn't anything made in France and wasn't a brand that is no longer available.

Anyone having "saw toothing" drama's on the inner edge of their rear tyres on the vRS?? I have been checking the Briskoda forum and it seems to be a rear camber adjustment problem, and I just ha d a look at mine at a little over 14K on it and yep, I have the same problem. bad enough to make the rear sound a little noisey . (I'll take pics soon )
Will be taking into a suspension or wheel business to get a full 4 wheel balance & alignment with full suspension dimensions checks carried out. Will let ya's know what I find.

Your going to be hard pressed to get an alignment problem fixed under warranty. They ll argue you ve hit a large pothole or similar and altered the geometry.
