    G'Day All,

Does anyone know where the sensor is for the auto headlights on the Octavia?

My lights have stayed on a couple of times in bright light and haven't turned off. I was parking under the house and normally the headlights come on as it is a bit dark under there and today they stayed off.

I'm hoping it is just a dirty sensor, before I have to takit to the dealer.

Has anyone had any problems with them?

    Cheers

I thought it was the same sensor used for rain, ie the one behind the mirror, otherwise my guess would be the small dark knob near the windscreen in the centre of the dash

That's what I assumed as well. I was told the dash board one was the temperature sensor for the auto A/C.
My Skoda auto lights are weird though. They do seem to have a fairly random idea of darkness line driving directly into the setting sun in the evening when there isn't a cloud in the sky or a shadow anywhere near the car. The good thing is that they have never not come on when I figure that they should have so just overide them and use the off switch if I disagree about the level of darkness.

Thanks, I'll give it a good clean and see how it goes.

I too thought it was located with the rain sensor on the windscreen, where the rearview mirror attaches... my auto lights demonstrate some strange logic as K1W1 states, when they come on and go off seems a bit random... but if they come on during the day it's no bad thing is it? However if they fail to come on in darkness, hmmm could be an issue... mine have never failed to come on in darkness, even when I drive under my carport its still fairly light under there but they come on anyway.

Mine work perfectly....I think there are 3 types of manufacturers used though, so results will vary. They also can vary in how the sensitivity was setup.

"the light is regulated with the light sensor in the rear mirror holder."
